Silence the Dissent?

Just wondering why this thread was locked:

http://forums.demigodthegame.com/361531

I thought everyone there was having a very constructive conversation.  There wasn't any flaming, cussing, or raging.  Scared of people seeing a thread that might have anything negative to say about your game, even if its done in a well-tempered manner?

It was turning into a healthcare debate?

Eitherway, you might have not been raging, but peopel that came after started raging I guess.  Still if you don't like the game, I'm hoping Impulse Marketplace comes out soon so you can sell it, I would buy it discount lol.  Man this marketplace thign will be great, and it will cause more sales for impulse cause if I can sell my old games for $$, I'll turn around and buy new games with it :)

Most likely because everything that could have been constructively stated had been stated, and it would soon fall into troll posts :P

Although I would like to point out, I thought you played good games? Why is Halo, the epitome of mediocre overhype, up there?! ^_^

Cause the OP wanted to????

Not all locked threads need big bad reasons to send them away. Why not lock a thread once it has run it's course, it's a great way to avoid feeding trolls.

Who said SD locked it?

you wouldn't believe how permissive these forums really are. threads tend to get locked once people start directly attacking each other instead of discussing things. but in general this is one of the most lightly moderated private forums you'll find anywhere.

Until you get on Frogboy's nerves, anyway ;)

Well, I was the OP, so who else would have locked it?

Then tell me why my post was locked, nobody was attacking anybody.

Somebody had said something directly to me in the last post, and I would have liked to respond to him.  There was still conversation to be had.

Halo 1 had one of the best physics engines of its time, along with really fun, fair, gameplay that featured lots of really random "DID YOU SEE THAT?!?" moments.  It was also one of the first console games to be LANed, so much so that software was developed to allow people to LAN over the internet.  (the game was made before Xbox Live)  I hadn't gotten into PC first person shooters yet, so I guess this would be my equivelant to most people's Counterstrike.

I'd have to agree about the physics engine. Grenades in particular were amazingly intuitive, and if I threw a grenade, waited and threw another, they'd both hit the exact same spot, unlike modern "gritty" games. But other than the physics engine, I'm afraid there just really wasn't that much to talk about, imo.

You.

Here on the stardock forums (which there are about 12 of that are interconnected) threads and blogs are treated in much the same way. From within ImpulseDriven.net you can control may features, such as deleting posts from your own OP's, blacklisting other users (they can read but not reply to your OP's), make a thread private and lock a thread.

I guess alot of the newer forum users that are here just for Demigod may not know about all this.

Because your thread asked no questions, offered no constructive critism of any kind and provided nothing further than a write up that appears to have been for the benefit of the original poster rather than the social interaction provided by the forum; it was a soap box to tell everyone you didn't like the game for the sake of saying it. It merely stated your experience with the game in a way that could be summised in "game is teh failz, account cancelled".

Silencing Dissent? More like pruning the weeds.

You can always take it to PMs.

This community has a thing for bandwagon jumping and it usually takes a day or two for 3 or 4 clone threads to start popping up. I dont think its censorship, it's prevention :w00t: .

I saw your thread read a bit and stopped but im guessing they didnt like where the thread was headed and promptly brought down the closed hammer. If it was really censorship you'd be banned and so would everyone who agreed with you o_O .
