Exploitative avoidance of losses?

Hi,

Recently I've started experiencing invalid gamestates and then end of game more and more often. It also seems to happen at exactly point where the game is decidedly over (albeit not formally). This leads me to suspect that some people are forcing desyncs by some exploitative method in order to avoid gaining a loss in pantheon. Has this been investigated?

PLEASE FIX this bug as soon as possible!

Losing teams are not using an exploit to force this bug.

This BUG triggers short after the "Forces of Light/Dark controls the Map" message, so it looks like the losing team forces it, but its because u control too much flags!!!!!

This bug is 99,9% reproduceable on cataract, dont know about the other maps.

This can be done on purpose. People have tried to join my game right after doing it too me and then told me they did it. Its happened to me regardless of the announcement. Believe me when i say, this was an accident on my part, but we all know when someone loses connection with another player and the connectivity box pops up for 20 mins. After about 15 mins, i didnt feel like cntrl+alt+deleting and ending the game so i unplugged my ethernet cord (router is right next to me) waited about 5 seconds and plugged it back in. I feel very bad for the other players in the game (forgot your names) but it sparked an "Invalid Game State" for them and gave me the win. Now i have 3 people who will never play with me again cuz they think i do that on purpose. But thats the only way i know you can do it, now i know that you can do it, and its retarded how easy it seems to do. Im waiting for my buddy who plays to let me test this out a few times and confirm it and ill let the whole damn world know in hopes it forces the issue to be fixed sooner.

Don't get me wrong, i love this game to death. This looks like the end is near... im to young man, to young.

 

as if the real desync error result from bad internet connections. *sigh* who ignorant one can be. most lag and network problems you see ingame are NOT due to the players seem causing it. the two main reasons are:

1. The bad network code of Demigod

2. the routed network path between some of the palyers. along this path there are some hobs causing trouble.

 

of course sometimes it is the fault of one of the players, leeching big stuff or using a defect modem. but in most cases this is not the source of the problem.

 

p.s. actually i never saw so many network problems in a game before. and this game has even the smalles community of all.

Any news from Stardock or GPG about this? Quite bothersome problem and has been there a bit too long. How should Demigod be able to get more popular if things like this doesn't get fixed?

i had it a few days ago too... i thought it's just an error...

today 2 times in a row... each time winning...

isn't it possible to fix this...!? it's so long time ago it was found...

 

for me i will stop playing until it's fixed... it's very annoying! 

 

would be nice to get at least some info about the research of this problem...

Guys.. NO ONE FROM THE DEVELOPMENT READS THIS STUFF.. They don't care anymore.  If they did, it would be fixed. In fact, whoever the idiot was that thought P2P was a good idea, is a clueless jackass. The guy that thought of proxy was a little smarter but not quite there.  If proxy was a solution to fix issued connection, then just allow people host a server to connect to. It makes sense.  Every other game in the world does it this way for a reason.  Because P2P sucks. And whoever thought a timeout of infinite for disconnected players was a jackass. That one is a no brainer.  Every game should just go to a proxy server.  Let players pay for hosted servers like Left4Dead does and then anyone can connect to them. Works great.  I host 2 servers from my house but anyone can connect to use them.

 

There are constant Invalid Game State issues now as well as constant disconnects during the game that lock everyone. These happen at all times, not just when someone is losing. It's more often a minute to 3 minutes into a game and sometimes a complete lock, others a connection screen pops up but it doesn't say who is the problem child and will sit there as long as you do. You can't exit the game even. You have to ctrl+alt+del.  What is this Windows95 programming?

 

Thank god for all the other games I play or I'd feel bad for the gaming community.  Refunds?

How did u manage to save a replay of an invalid gamestate? When this happens there is no "save replay" option.

There was no invalid game state in the game. The game worked fine. Only the replay has one. Which is why this might be interesting for the devs.

Apart from what ntropy said, there is always a 'LastGame' replay file.

Get this damn errors fixed.

Ive got some very very good matches and almost at the end of it the game crashes with this damn critical error.

The matches which were affected by this were great matches with ups and downs and my team was on the winning side where this happens all the time. Games were near the end where this happens mostly :(

 

Please, please do something against it...
