Is the "Configure Objectdock" Icon necessary?

Objectdock configuration icon

Maybe I'm missing something, but the "configure Objectdock" icon seems redundant since  objectdock configuration options can be accessed by right-clicking anywhere on a dock, giving  "this dock", "remove entry" and "dock entry properties" with its full sub-menu.

I try to keep my docks as compact as possible by grouping related applications on fly-out menus and by also dropping the "configure objectdock" icon.

i'm not that short on ram, but it seems sensible to reduce dock resource use as every added icon likely increases ram consumption.

Fly-out menus don't necessarily conserve ram, but surely dropping icons does?

So...is the "configure objectdock" icon unnecessary?

Like you said, configuring is a simple right-click.......who needs an icon for that? :sun:

from my skinner point of view this is a very useful shortcut (I just customized the icon image) as  when I try + make changes on a new skin I'm going to open several times the "OD Properties" dialog BTW I really would like a "minimize" button !

about the RAM issue try to choose a lower icon size especially for the "zoom" effect + on using animated icons check the option "only animate on mouseover" or run only 1 animated icon at the time,

hope this help !

My vision's kinda shot from staring at screens all day. Setting my 20" screen at a dismally low resolution (1152x864) helps, but gives up a lot of real estate so the screen crowds up fast if I don't conserve on icons. So yeah, zooming's important to me even when I use large icons.
