Elemental Alpha: Invites going out

We’ve picked a tiny handful of the pre-order group to become alpha testers based on how many other betas they’ve participated in, forum karma, and a number of other criteria.

Those of you not in the alpha, fear not, you’re not missing very much. The beta is scheduled to come out around PAX (Penny Arcade Expo).

Be forewarned, we plan to close the beta shortly after PAX and it will remain closed for some months. Those who want to get the beta can pre-order the game.

I am leaning towards beta 1 being only cloth map in order to let beta testers have more input on the game mechanics (fewer assets to change if we accept a suggestion).

There will be an Alpha tour later this week (possibly tomorrow). Stay tuned.

Ok, so minors definately can't sign the NDA, right? (Please say I'm wrong).

Well I'm keeping my fingers crossed to be one of the lucky alphas, but usually I have bad luck with lotteries.

I think that's a good idea all around. Inevitably beta testers will disagree with and/or have suggestions on mechanics, and it will be handy to be able to change them around more easily.

If you're closing the beta for a few months, does that mean you've settled on a longer development schedule?

I am not provided with the capability to pre-order. I'll have to wait for you to start charging during PAX. Plan to get my teeth sunk in.

When is this strange PAX?

Also, start doing more world wide expos! (By which I mean, expos not just in the USA, you're a world wide company, come to the ones in UK, Europe, etc!)

I'm going to guess that it's almost certainly a 'no'. NDAs are legally-binding documents.

Unfortunately, you're right. I'm a minor, too (by only a couple months), and Yarlen confirmed to me that you have to be 18+ to participate:'(

Unfortunately you're probably right. x_x  An NDA is basically a contract, and a minor can't really be bound to a contract like this. It's just a legal thing.

I concur. Focus, feedback and augmentation will be paramount keys to a top class development scheme.

"This month" is still pretty darned close to 'around Sept. 3-6.'

Also, IMO, it wouldn't be all that bad a thing if the beta 1 date moved towards the end of the month on account of an unexpectedly interesting and productive alpha. And I'm saying that has someone who's wanted this game since well before folks around Stardockia started calling the thing 'NotMoM.'

Nevermind its email... ill shut up. ^_^

For those of us who didn't get in, take solace in the fact that alphas are traditionally very broken. The "lucky few" are in fact guinea pigs who will go through much pain to make our beta experience that much better!  |-)

Are sending emails saying if you got in or not. The not knowing is driving my insane!  XO

rough times.  I kinda expect a riot of disapointment.
