CL when Skype is running

Hi, could it be that running skype might result in CLs (as skype is constantely using your connection this might be possible)? I did have quite a lot of CLs and so far I thought, I would get them as soon as my flatmate would be connected to the network as I never get any when he is not connected. No matter what he was doing (watching youtube, playing WoW or Arma2) I always got CLs. I never got them when his comp was not connected to the network.

Today I decided to start Skype (I usually don't have it turned on) and forgot to turn it off. Joined a game, got a CL after 10 minutes, just as it usually happened when my flatmates PC was connected to the network. The only difference: Skype. As he has it in autostart this might be the source of some peoples CLs. Did anybody else notice problems with Skype or am I the only one?

I run skype with the game at least once a week playing with friends and it hasn't ever caused this issue.

We are 3 teammates all running skype with the game in different ways:

  1. Running Skype on the same machine as the game: the game minimizes if he gets a message or an alert on skype.
  2. Running Skype from a different machine: no problems what so ever.
  3. Running Skype fom a smartphone (connected over wifi through the same connection): No problems unless he gets a phone call. The game stops responding to everyone for 1-3 seconds then goes back to normal.

I also play with a group all on skype with no problems. We all played in windowed mode at primary monitor's resolution, so no minimizing issues either :) .

setting your status to 'do not disturb' in Skype should prevent message popups as well as call notifications and stuff.
