Windows 7 and MyColors

waiting for compatible versions...

When will MyColors (and other applications in Object Desktop) become Windows 7 compatible?  I've got several themes I've purchased or downloaded and I can't apply them in Windows 7.  The release candidate has been out for several months now and the beta even longer.  Is Stardock planning to update this application for Windows 7?

A beta of WindowsBlinds 7 and Icon Packerager 5 are out with Win 7 compatibility.  Stardock is working on the other programs.  When will the show up as beta, when they are ready.  If I had to guess they will probably be released around October 22, which I think is the Win 7 official release date.

My Colors uses versions of the individual software (WB, IP, etc.) so yes it will be compatible.

If you are an Object Desktop subscriber you should be able to get the current betas.

I'm definitely waiting for the Windows 7 compatibility for MyColors.  I've never had a chance to use it, but I have the Sins theme.

If your My Colors theme is in .theme format, you can rename it to .zip, unzip it and put the WB, Icon Package and anything else in their respective folders.:)

Okay for those of us running legit RTM's of Win 7 is there any word on when Impules will be allowing us to install things like MyColor? I read the press release that its certified for Win7 but as of today when I tried to install mycolor on my Win7 System it gives the same old "This program is not compatible" mssg. Very fustraiting

On the same page... any news on Impulse actually letting us install MyColors under Windows 7 RTM 64 bits?

What upgrade, with beta selected the version is still 2.60.  when is Stardock going to release a version that works.  or at least allow us to select compatiblity mode on the install.  Having to wait for the october release for a beta is not a good thing to do with any microsoft OS

Well my Objectdekstop subscription is almost up for renewal - Guess we won't be doing that this year :annoyed:

Why pay for something i can't use just because i am a Windows 7 user

Any news of MyColors being able to be installed under Windows 7?

Is there any news, even as a broad estimate such as "around the time of Win7 release"?

I don't see the reason for the delay. Both IconPackager and Windowblinds appear to be fully compatible now.

Well today was the day Stardock "reminded" me to renew my object desktop subscription. Don't see the point.

Ask me again when Stardock actually realises Windows 7 isn't a pipedream. (22nd October for full release into stores remember)

Betas of Windows 7 compatible versions of Deskscapes, WindowBlinds and IconPackager are downloadable by Object Desktop subscribers and have been for some time now.  Just tick show prereleases in Impulse.

As for MyColors, I would expect that to get an update once WB 7 and IP 5 are launched.

I would expect them all to be final before the Windows 7 release date.

ObjectDock works fine on 7 here. What problem do you have?

ObjectDock works fine for me as well on 64 bit win 7

I would expect them all to be final before the Windows 7 release date.

Which is less than a month away!

What's wrong is almost two years without an ObjectDock/OD+ update... but there is now hope!

Is there any release date for a Windows 7 compatible version (or a beta) you can tell us yet?

Windows 7 is out worldwide this week, and is already out in certain parts of Europe... not to mention that it has been out on Technet for several weeks now.

Um. So it's October 22, Windows 7 is technically released, and yet no update.  Local time, it's only been for a couple minutes, but "before" windows 7 launches has passed.

I'm still running the Windows 7 release candidate (32-bit version) but I noticed that there were new updates to Theme Manager, WindowBlinds and MyColors available on Impulse today.  I've downloaded and installed all three and it appears that MyColors is now Windows 7 compatible (Impulse allowed me to download and install the application).  However, when I tried to run a some of the MyColors themes I have under "My Software" the skins don't seem to work correctly.  The icons changed (although I was prompted for my email address and IconPackager serial number (?)) and the desktop wallpaper changed correctly, but the skin didn't change.  I also attempted to change the skin within WindowBlinds (didn't work) and in Theme Manager (didn't work...).  I tried it after rebooting the system (twice) and it still didn't work.

Two questions - are MyColors and Theme Manager basically the same application?  Do I need to have them both installed?  I notice that the MyColors themes appear in the Theme Manager as well.  Should I uninstall both apps and try installing only one?  I'm thinking I might have conflicting configuration files from one of the two.

Also, the skins appear in the WindowBlinds area as well.  Can I change my windows from within WindowBlinds or do I need to go to MyColors or Theme Manager to change the windows?  I'm also thinking I need to install WindowBlinds first, reboot, then install Theme Manager and MyColors - there may have been too many installations going on at the same time.

Looking at the available applications under "My Software" in Impulse there appear to be a number of applications that may be orphaned or redundant - have you folks at Stardock considered cleaning up the applications for Object Desktop subscribers so that only the current "valid" applications show up?  It seems strange to see icons for SkinStudio 7 Professional, SkinStudio 6 Professional, SkinStudio 5 Professional and SkinStudio 5 Standard all appearing under "My Software".

MyColors themes seemed broken for me as well.  It seemed to apply fine, but would randomly revert to the "Windows Classic" look.  Not the whole theme, just the start bar, or other random parts.

Edit: Windows 7 RC x64.

you need to install my colours first there is a bug

I had the same problem until I uninstalled my colors and came back here and re-downloaded and re-installed my colors. Works fine now.

I did a clean installation of Windows 7, grabbed the Diamond Theme from http://mycolors.stardock.com and installed it. It applied correctly, which I have not seem of this theme in ages.
