Verifying Direction and Code of Conduct for the Idea Section?

With the General Section going into complete anarchy and proper "developer <--> community" discussion going completely out the window i think this is the perfect time to concentrate on the idea section for a good solid base for modders when the SDK comes out (no ETA yet).

To help with organization a few good compilation threads have already been created (i noticed before posting that even the Master Game Features one has resurfaced) including the Master Demigod on already pinned.  i think that everyone should start compiling ideas into these Master posts (or creating new ones) to help really focus the collective creativity of this community (which is really amazing btw).

However before any of that i would really like to nail down the Code of Conduct for this sections so its doesn't get any anarcistic posts leaking in from the General or Multiplayer sections.  IMO the code should be along the lines of only ideas relating to the betterment of the game.  this means no game developement discussion or random ideas like adding pizza delivery to the command lines (thou funny they are useless and can be posted in General Section) to help prevent flamming and trolling (hopefully)

would really like to hear some input from other regular posters in this section.. maybe even from Kryo who sometimes pops in for a chat every now and then.  don't want to sound like a controlling crazy person, just want to stop looking at our feets and move forward (as a community) to a better game.

5*

Great idea & we need somewhere where our ideas can be taken seriously.

How about BEER on the command line?

Sorry I couldn't resist... :X

We do not yet know what areas will be avalibe for modding yet, do we?
Customized interface elements is given (I guess), and map-making as well.
Still no solution to the Granny-dilemma afaik, so we don't know the future of custom models I guess.

As for a CoC, I have not much to add. I'm not that much into modding myself, but the only suggestion I could make is to have clear rules regarding how to name the topics. Best would be if the people in charge of the forum could add specified topic-icons representing the different categories (maps, skins, UI-addons, AI-scripts etc). Have a look at the UT3-modding forum to see what I mean: http://utforums.epicgames.com/forumdisplay.php?s=ec6a567eace7ae5ce5983e564497af14&f=335

Makes it easier for both mod-developers and the users to find exactly what they're looking for.

If you guys want to enforce yourselves to stay on-topic and not flame, all the better. Less work for me ;)

i really like this idea... i know when ever i post a topic i always have a colon sperating the type form the actual idea (example, New Favor Item: {Insert Idea})  i know a lot of people do this already however i'd liek to cut down on those who post things like "Today i was playing a game and thought to myself...." and the idea in the post turns out to be something on balance or bugs.

my purposed system would be like i mentioned Idea Type followed by Idea Name (or specifics) and seperated by a colon.  anyone deadly opposed to this or have a better suggestion?

Once again: good idea!

That should also help reduce the number of duplicate posts as you could actually find the topic that you're looking for.

We could also possibly ask to have sub-sections, such as Levels, Mods, etc... under the Ideas tab (or any other area we get given).

Kryo: Unfortunately, I'm one of those people that tend to take a thread on walk about... don't do the flame thing though :-"
