SOASE AND ENTRENCHMENT MOD TOOLS PACK 1 - For SOASE 1.17 and Entrenchment 1.03

Greetings All!

I have finished putting together a mod tools pack that is a complete set of tools for modding Sins 1.17 and Entrenchment 1.03.  This is an all inclusive pack, complete with text versions for both games for easy modding.  I ahve also provided tons of programs that I use for modding, and all are open source and free for sharing.

Included are 3D Modeling programs, graphics programs, entity file editors, sound converters and recorders, compression software, and programs made by Harpo for automating processes that would normally have to be done by hand.  Also included is the original Forge Tools by Ironclad which are unfortunately out of date right now, pluse the new DEV.exe developer builds which work for both Sins 1.17 and Entrenchment 1.03.  There are even tools for updating older mods to the current versions of the game.

I hope that this pack helps out the new modder as well as the seasoned veteran alike.  If you have any questions or concerns, you can either post here or send me and email.  My contact info is provided with the mod pack.  I will be writing tutorials later on as time allows, and will include them with the next mod pack and will post the info here as well.

The pack itself is hosted at www.danmangames.com.  Click on Game Mods, then Sins of a Solar Empire, and the link will be towards the bottom of the page for the download.

essentially you put together 3/4 of a gb of what i assume to be miscellaneous and probably now outdated freeware utilities and didn't even bother listing what you included? there's a reason torrents were invented, downloading 700MB of what could end up to be several thousand copies of audacity bundled with a 500mb looping wav of william shatner is not an ideal distribution method

so how about listing what exactly is in here

carbon016, I know he has MY utilities in it. all 300kb of them.

I have to agree with Carbon on this one, it seems completely useless to pack redundant programs into a .7z. Especially when a torrent could let you pick and choose the programs you require.

I applaud you for organizing this pack of programs, but you should think of a better way to distribute them.

Carbon016,

My apologies, in an effort and rush to get this out there to help the modders struggling to either convert their mods to the new versions of Sins or Entrenchement, or help those would be modders who have absolutely no where to go or what do do, I guess I left out a few fine details.  I am fixing this now at the top of the page.  Also, I will now on my end be removing some of those programs, and just provide links instead.  I was trying to make it as easy as possible for the beginning modder to get started in one convienient package.  But I do suppose making the download smaller and providing links instead is better.  Thanks for the suggestion!

Gruntmaster1,

Thank you very much.  You did what I did not have time to do.  I will be using your list for the top post.  Thanks again!

I do hope that this helps everyone, especially all the files that I converted to TEXT for easy editing, and some of the free software helps out those who do have access to professional programs.

NP man, since people seemed like they were screaming for a list and the download speed from your site rules! (have 10 mbit so only took 12 mins). All the programs is not that usefull for me (since I suck at moddeling and texturing), but programs such as notepad++ and the txt files helped out well, also the two updated dev.exe worked for me, which the others didn't. It is definitely a god all-around pack for a mod starter or "would be modders", like myself xD.

On another note I got my laptop back from repair and I thought that I had moved my mod from the replacement laptop to my external harddisk, now I can't find it, so that is a weeks work which is... well gone QQ.

I hope this isn't asking for too mutch or impossible, but I am gona have 3 epic units in my mod and will need some models for them, in my search I have come across the titans in  Kiedjor's epicmod, though the last post I have seen from him is a mounth ago, so if you know how to come in contact with him, could you ask him if it is okay that I use them?

EDIT: oh I just tested my mod and it seems that all modules and starbases from your entrenchment txt files give an eternal error which freezes the game when activating the mod.

I am fixing this now at the top of the page. Also, I will now on my end be removing some of those programs, and just provide links instead.

You have make me happy with the 3dc32440 ( 3D Object converter )... now, i can finally convert the multiple mesh from the starbase to object and try to study how it work...

Forget about links, software itself is better... a lot of people here are young one and think that internet is immortal... in the last 20 year of my adult life, i have see a lot of site or project die... i have regret that i have keep the link only and not the material... links die with time, what you download remain ( if you use raid or backup )... Hey, i have mirror several site in the past who don't exist anymore today !!!

For sins, it is the same... i keep all tools version, make differential package for upgrade, keep several mod... about mod, i have the first one was was created for the sins beta, in 2007... two of 3 time, i have put it on my server because the old code was making something that some people was trying to create today... these first mod code can be used for create missile who can be intercept, for create limited ammunition, can be used for create the mine system in from Entrenchment... these mod is 300kb of Gold... but cannot more be found on the internet today...

In short, make a little package with links... but for the "collector" like me who don't trust the Internet, keep the full package...

Only one complain, why don't you have speak about the 3dc32440 to your "partner" before make it public... so longtime that i wish a easy way ( and open source one ) for convert .mesh to .obj...

Hmm, this might be kind of kicking a dead horse, but I thought that I would tell you to add in Depeche View to your modding pack (or something similar). It is a tool you can use to search the content of all txt files in a folder, making finding specific abillities, buffs, etc. a lot easier.
