The American dream is not a myth or a fantasy it is a reality.

The American dream is striving for that perfect place you want to be.

The American dream is hard work.

The American dream is not handed to you by the government.

The American dream is trial and error

The American dream is being free to fail or succeed.

There are two ways to get your American dream. The first is to earn it through blood, sweat and extremely hard work. The second is to steal it from others. The first one works 70% of the time the second one never works out in the long run.

The fantasy is that achieving the American dream is easy. From the outside looking the guy that makes it did it with no effort at all. Take Tiger Woods for example. He was an overnight success. He turned 18 won the Masters and 200 million dollars a year in endorsements. It only took him 15 years of hard work to be an overnight success.

The reality is to be a success you have to fail most of the time. You have to risk it all. When Thomas Edison was praised for the light bulb after over 10,000 failures he said, “I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work”. He kept plugging away at it until he found the right combination to success. He did not ask for congress to bail him out he just kept working until he got what he wanted.

This is the American dream; you keep working at it until you get what you want. My dream is to own a hotel on the beach. All I need is 50 million dollars to get me started. I have not succeeded yet but I am only in my 50’s and will keep working at it. Until then I will keep running my three businesses and work for the government.

Don’t let idiots talk you out of your dream. Your dream may be to own a gas station, or a carwash. I have owned both and would not work those jobs again but if that is your dream go for it. If it is what you love to do you can make money at it. The secret to success is not cheating people it is being fair and honest and hard work, nothing else has ever worked.

Politicians will lie to you and tell you that if you elect them they will help you realize your dream. All they are doing is conning you into making their dream come true. You and only you can make it happen. Don’t rely on the government to help you. Look at GM, they asked for a little bit of help and it destroyed the company. Ford motor company asked for help, they saw what was coming and changed their mind. Ford may have some difficulty for a bit but they are still free to work unlike the workers at GM that are going to get screwed.

Don’t give the government your dream to fulfill, they won’t because they can’t.
