DesktopX

I don't know if anyone has had this problem but when I try to load DesktopX I get a ' DesktopX has stopped working' message.

I have clered the cache and uninstalled DesktopX and then re-installed but I still get the same error message. This happened once before and the only way I could fix it was to reinstall the operating system.

I am running Vista Ultimate.

Any help would be appreciated.

There is likely an entry in the Windows event log.  It may help

Thanks for the info - unfortunately, I do not fully understand what to do next.

This would appear to be what I am looking for though :

Not much help there (yet).  Go ahead and fire off an email to support.  Be sure to include this error, your OS, DX version, and anything that you changed recently (new apps, MS updates, etc)

uac on or off?

6635 is “no corresponding fault module”. Running Kaspersky? Something with pro active defense is running.

1. No new programs added

2. UAC Off, ( you mean some people turn it on ?? )

3 Eset Nod 32 - can't tell if that is set for pro active or not.

Funny, everything was OK when I turned the computer off !!

Been running sp1 since it came out with DX working perfectly - till now, but at this point I'm willing to try anything.

Thanks for mentioning it though.

The problem arose after SP1 in Vista Ultimate but then after SP2 it seemed to be corrected.

The fix back then was courtesy of Vad_M    .......................................

adjust the UAC through Stardock Tweak Vista:

1. Press "Security" button. Then select the "Medium-low security" item in the "Overview" tab not the lowest setting as previous

2. Go to "Advanced" tab and select "Silently succeed" if you are an administrator and "Silently ignore" in the other case, do this even though the two appear to be mutually exclusive.

The item "Programs requesting elevation must be signed and verified" must to be unchecked!

You will never see the UAC message box after these simple tweaks. However all of DX options will work correctly.
