If you are playing in a premade with friends, say so in the title of the game.   It's unfair to PUGs to join a game against 3-4 players on voice comm cooperating against total strangers.   It's an unfair advantage and really goes against the competitive spirit of the game.

I have friends I play with too but I let everyone know it's a premade and hopefully go up against stronger players or another premade for some competition.   If you wanna steamroll over noobs with your buddies, Go comp stomp...

PUG Voice chat is LOL. You'll have some 13 year old who sounds like his voice can break glass screaming at his team mates "OMFG WHY DIDN'T YOU HEAL ME YOU BUNCH OF F'N NOOBS" ... "YOU GUYS SUCK ZOMG MY MOTHER COULD PLAY BETTER THEN YOU" - Screaming 13 year old then Rage quits, followed by his team mates conceding... just like any other PUG except with txt chat no one had to hear his annoying Shrills.
Gimme a break.  L4D has voice chat and it helps tremendously.  The vast majority of players are mute but still listen, a large minority have mics and are reasonable to listen to, and a very, very small minority are intolerable, but you could tell that before the game started as long as the lobby had voice chat anyway.

Eh, when you get down to it, talking to your pubby partner tends to go something like this:

Sedna: They need to nerf that beast. Everyone plays him.

Me: No, he's pretty balanced.

WE HAVE FIRST BLOOD!

Sedna(Dead): That spit is exactly why beast needs to be nerfed.

Me: Just stack HPS and you'll be fine. Your heal will even eventually remove his spit.

Sedna: That's a level 15 skill.

Me: So? I'm level 11, we're almost there.

Sedna: I've been level 5 for the past ten minutes.

Pseudomelon has voted to concede.

Edit: This isn't entirely accurate. The average pubby swears a lot more than this, and uses a lot more numbers and a lot less actual words. Caps lock is often reasonably common. However, some of us try not to bastardize the english language on a regular basis.

Good laugh, made even better by the irony that Sedna is often the direct counter to UB ^_^

yea, enjoy it while it lasts, premade stomping is only running off more players. Have fun owning yourselves into a dead game.

Team matchmaking is months away, I dont think it'll come along in time to save DG.

Community for the lose.

Can't say I disagree. Although I wouldn't quite blame the community, they didn't create the problem.

The community may have not created the problem, but they sure aren't helping it any.  A good portion of the premade community continues to not label their games, lies when confronted if they are premade, and joins games explicity labeled 'no premades'.  Not everyone can convince their friends to play a game that has had horrible connection issues, broken core multiplayer features, no voice support, no clan support, a horrible friends system, and to top it all off is really a multiplayer game with extremely weak/basic single player content.  Therefore, until SD comes out with a better friends system and clan support, there is still going to be a large population of people doing PuGs.  If the premade community refuses to play against each other, then yes, this game is going to have a very short life-span. It's really pathetic when I go into the multiplayer forum and see 8 out of 10 games premade, and not one of them bothered to label their game because they know other premades are not looking to go against other premades.  The reason it's taking so long to get a premade game going is because most premade groups refuse to play against other premades, because they want the distinct advantage of stomping PuGs for an easy win.  It's not a crime to play as premade, and hopefully the game can reach a point where most games are premade, but for people to be purposely deceitful and lie their way into games is not helping the already struggling community.  PuGs are just as much to blame, because most are ignorant to the fact they should be checking host/player stats prior to starting a game, and if they bothered to check then premades would (possibly) start playing each other for lack of their games starting.

I ask and still haven't had anyone lie about premades...

The worst is premade Pantheon. They pair up fully knowing they're going against PuGs and are going to win every single game. On top of that they're elitist douchebags.

agreed.  its my only loss.

It's a tough issue really. It is. I for one, love playing with friends, but the problem is that of the 4 of that were playing only 2 of us are left (due to server issues the other 2 have simply moved on). So I can play 2v2's or PUGs and thats pretty much it.

Honestly though, I think the real issue is.. in my mind, the flag mechanic.  It doesnt matter how hard I play or how many kills I get , if my teamates don't understand the basic fundementals of flags=upgrades then the game is done before it even starts.

And you simply cannot carry a team in this game (not against anyone with basic knowledge of the game). All the kilsl and items in the game wont help me if I am the only one keeping track of flags.

Sooo... ya, like I said a few days ago in another post, play with friends/premades or dont play, I hate to put it like that, but thats just the way i see it now. And with all the delays on new content and such I think demigod is sinking fast.

I read somewhere that the new demigods are coming in December??? That is just crazy. In december Im gonna be playing SC2, L4D2, Earthrise and Champions Online, and possibly HoN or LoL.

I think GPG dropped the ball on this one. DemiGod has ONE thing going for it, and that is that it is unique in this genre. LoL and HoN are both very close to DOTA and demigod has seperated itself and stands out as unique, but for the love of god, please get into it with Demigod before it dies.

Some solutions to this:

1.) Create a "random team" option and make custom games with this option only count on ladder.

2.) If you play with same people again and again, you will gain less and less ladder score while other side gets more score (not losing)

So....... can anyone declare somthing a solution now? Let me try!

3) randomers get some friends.

Solution 1)

Team Auto Match.

This needs to be put in tomorrow, why the hell was it not in the already horrendous release.

Yeah, and that was a real conversation, word-for-word with the netspeak cut out. It irritated me at the time, but I think the laugh is worth the loss on my record :P

Even better, I was playing Regulus, and holding my own against the double spit UB's. It was soley Sedna feeding the way to defeat.

I hate to sound like a Blizzard fanboy, but the solution is simple:

1) Steal B.net's warcraft 3 ladder system

The system was simple.

  • Custom games didn't count.  Period.
  • 2v2, 3v3, and 4v4 arranged team matchmaking
  • 2v2, 3v3, and 4v4 random team matchmaking
  • FFA ladder existed but wouldn't make sense in DG
  • You had a list of maps and you could choose not to play on as many as would still allow around 3 maps to be randomly chosen

The system prevented all the issues this game currently has.  Custom games with ridiculous settings and stacked teams didn't affect one's ladder ranking and you could practice without it going on your record, teams fought teams, and solo players could enjoy the game without getting rolled by premades.

That being said, the chances of that kind of overhaul happening are slim to none so I really think the best course of action would be to stop ranking custom games and add team pantheon/skirmish matches.

p.s. if you want a good laugh, look at the current player rankings.  The entire first page is full of players with a 90% win rate, which shows the 'top' players haven't been fighting each other at all, it really is just pub stomping

That is the simple solution. I'm still confused how basic arranged team functionality was simply not even considered for Demigod.  It's at the core a team game yet there were literally no features designed towards facilitating an actual TEAM of players.

If anyone has seen the HoN interface also - now that is the slickest and most useful UI I have ever used in a multiplayer game.  One click friend adds, whispering panels, on the fly stats....it's simply amazing.  So many features I wish Demigod had.

I'm still confused on why pathfinding hasn't been fixed. I'm still confused on why hundreds of bugs in the beta that were reported made it into a finished product. In that perspective, it's not really suprising.

Gameplay bugs are gameplay bugs.

This is a design problem.

Somthing as fundamental as pathfinding? That goes beyond gameplay bugs, but can we just agree on one thing for once ;p? Im not going to argue this.

Well, I think he just means that at least with pathing they intended for it to work correctly, but with matchmaking it's like they somehow didn't even realize it needed to exist.

We can definitely agree that both issues shouldn't made it out of beta though.  It's just really baffling to me, did you play command and conquer 3 by chance?  That game was awesome but the connectivity issues and complete lack of team matchmaking ruined it.  I just don't understand why modern games have such archaic issues.

it probably would be nice, but imo a multi player team matching system should have launched with game, better yet, it should be out 3 months after launch.

I stopped playing C&C forever 2 hours after tiberian sun's release. Talk about ruining a series.

But back on topic: We all know $$ is the root of these unpolished games. One of the things I respect about the developers unknown worlds is, they will only release NS2, when it IS a finished product. The wait has been excrutiatingly long. I wouldn't have minded Demigod's release, if I had been told what I was buying into. If I was prepared to pay for an open beta, I probably wouldn't have the complaints that I do.

If you're talking about the same post that I read, that was just someone guess-timating when they'd arrive based on the current frequency of noteworthy patches.

That said, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if it ended up being true.

Wow.  I wonder if we play a different game somehow.  I've asked and maybe 20% of the time get honest answers.  That might be generous.   I appreciate those that do admit it or put it in the title of the game.  Those are the people that are in it for their own enjoyment, as well as considerate of other gamer's enjoyment.

The liars that are clearly premades verified by stats or just watching play, are the stat whores that may destroy this game as mentioned by previous posters.   It isn't chasing me off, I just try to avoid them, but may be chasing new players off who think they are playing on even ground joining games.

Agreed.  But since it's not here, the community that enjoys this game can and should step in and try to fix this problem ourselves, shouldn't we?
