Bush versus Kerry

I have been playing with Kerry and all is fine until I reach Lincoln who gave me a good beating. I then start with George W. Bush and noticed something very unusal and I think someone mentioned this before. My George W. Bush was way ahead in the Zoby Poll in the top 4-5 national issues. Literally, I have 80-90% of the people favor my position, yet I was completely behind in the election (according to the map color). This has happened both when I ran against Al Gore and ran against Bill Clinton. What the heck is that? Literally, Bush has 90% support on War on Terroism with 30+% people considering as the most important issue and I was losing bad. In fact, I have look at state by state as well. For instinct, I have made California care for War on Terrosim as the most important issue and I have an edge of 130+ verus 40 points , and Jobs was the second most important issue to Californians and Bush versus Clintonwas 50+ to 10+ points. I forgot the third most important issue, but I wasn't behind. Yet, California was leaning toward Clinton. What the heck? You may think it is all due to awareness, right? No. Clinton and Bush both has 100% Awareness. What is going on?

Most interesting, the night before the election concluded (last turn -- 41st week), the Zoby Poll predicts Clinton will beat me by a landslide: 370+ to 150+ point. Yet, when the vote actually counted I won narrowerly, like Bush has 290 electoral points. Can the Zoby Poll be that off? That is kind of funny. Nonetheless, my problem has more then just the poll. With the kind of lead Bush has over Clinton on all major issue, he should have had a landslide. So there is something wrong. Can someone confirm this?

You were probably behind in awareness in each state. Doesn't help if you are closer to the people on the issues if the people don't know who you are.

Thank you for your response whoman, but that is not the case. As I pointed out, in california, both of our awareness are at 100, and I was ahead on top three issue. Yet, Clinton was leading me in California with 47% to 45% (something like that). I don't get it. I am way ahead on top three issues. LIke 100+ points. Just to also point this out, Clinton didn't put any spin doctors or smearer there. Have anyone else seen this? I have such a easy time to use Kerry but a very tough time using Bush. In Kerry case, I just have to slighty ahead on two issues to win a state. Come to think of it, I believe I have win state when my Kerry was behind on top issue. Is this game completely baised for Democrats? Ha ha ha, or should I reinstall my game?

California is predominantly a Democratic state so they naturally have a big advantage there. If you also have stated support for issues that turn of Democrats, like the war in Iraq, tax cuts or abortion, you would have a net loss of support. If you took those same advantages in Texas it wouldn't even be close. While awareness might have been a problem in California, it most likely was in the state in which you lost. Its all guess work for us since we can't see your exit polls or any maps.
