Ridiculus speeds on "hard AI"

I'm playing a single player tournament on "hard AI" settings, and from game to game, one opponents gains absolutely ridiculus speeds.

We're talking speeds comparative to a level 20 Unclean Beast with all possible speed items, and this just on level 10.

It happened to a Torch Bearer on round 3, and now to an Erebus on round 4.

It's absolutely ridiculus.

Also, if I may comment, to give the AI stat boosts is a really cheap way to cheat with AI. I mean, everyone cheats with AI, but GPG could at least try to make it less obvious. I have to say that this is the worst AI I've seen in a commercial game for quite some time, and that by quite a large margin. I mean, in a fast paced game like this, to allow the AI to stand absolutely still for long periods of time, or just mill around on the same spot, in inexcusable.

Hard AI doesnt cheat. Only nightmare does. THey just stack every speed item, skill, and favor item, and then use wand of speed to move so ridiculously fast. Try it out yourself.

I don't think hard ai gets any stat boost (i think I read that nightmare gets extra$$ though).  Are you including the journeyman treads in your logic?  A hit from this gives you a 5% chance to increase speed by 50% for 10 seconds... if they are maintaining speed like indefinitely, then that sounds like a problem... but those treads make a pretty huge difference when stacked with other speed items or even alone.

Re: the AI standing still or just milling around - I agree.  Kind of silly.  Sad though, but its an improvement over the AI running out every time to get farmed.  If I had to choose between weak AI that gets farmed all the time and weak AI that gets farmed most of the time... well...

But on a positive note, there are supposed to be AI enhancements in both 1.1 (this month) and 1.2 (this summer).

Play around with the stats on www.demigoddb.com and see how fast you can get.  UCB at level 20 with just abilities giving speed maxed gets 6.3... with swift anklet, boots of speed, and journey man treads, that bumps 8.82 move... and 5% chance on hit to go 50% faster... so 13.4 or so, and you could do even better than that with some other items.  Anyway, try that site out.

All I know is that I was Oak in one level, with speed anklet and speed boots, and the Torch Bearer was at least TWICE if not three times as fast as I was, and I never saw him slow down.
