What Games are You Looking Forward Too?

I'm looking forward to the next Sins expansion, but not many other upcoming games have me excited. SupCom2 will hopefully be good and JumpGate Evolution looks fun.

But I don't know of many good games that are coming out. Reviews are not always reliable as the reviewer does not actually play the game for long.

What upcoming or newly released games do you think are good? What future games have you excited?

Firstly Blood Bowl, really looking forward to it, it's about time a good board game appeared on the PC, turn based where I can actually work out the maths behind it feels a lot different to turn based with stats I have no idea what actually goes on behind the scenes with.

After that I have preordered the Episodic Secret of Monkey Island games from Telltale games and I'm also looking forward to the Special Edition of Secret of Monkey Island from Lucasarts as an excuse to play through the game again.

And lastly Left 4 Dead 2.

This.

There are a few more but none of them will be relased until october or something like that. Hmm Maybe Majesty 2 is released sooner than that, not sure.

Alpha Protocol, Dragon Age: Origins, Mass Effect 2 (going into 2010). Diablo 3 on the distant horizon.

On the MMO side, Jumpgate Evolution, Black Prophecy, The Old Republic and Star Trek Online.

Though, truth be told, I more or less expect all except The Old Republic will be rather mediocre.

Mass Effect 2 for sure, Alpha Prot maybe (Could go either way), that new GTA style Western game, Elemental of course, Tropico 3 maybe, my longed for games list is actually pretty short right now.

Oh right, Elemental obviously :P

The Old Republic

How could I forget? That game looks awesome! Bloodbowl looks interesting.

Mass Effect 2, Dragon Age Origins, Diablo 3, Expansion to Sins, Elemental, Forza 3, Modern Warfare 2, and Left 4 Dead 2.

MMOs that Ill try out, Star Trek and Star Wars TOR... I still will be playing Eve Online cause its fun.

Games that Ill try but im not sure of Deus Ex 3 and Alpha Protocol.

Ya I probably forgot a few, but these games come to mind first.

Supreme Commander 2! Of course, Mass Effect 2 and a couple other sequels will be delicious as well :P

Diablo3 if they don't screw it up (if it doesn't have semi-randomized content it's just another weak diablo clone).

Elemental

If Dragon Age looked anything like BG or IWD I'd be interested but I have zero interest in yet another FPS style bastardization (Fallout3 comes to mind) of a classic style or classic game.  Why devs are incapable of making modern versions of beloved classics is beyond me.

PC gaming dinosaurs like me who started back in the days of X-COM, Warlords, BG, etc get no love!

You will embrace RTS and FPS everything and be assimilated.

But that's not true. Dragon Age will be fully playable from an isometric viewpoint. It's like NWN - you can play isometric, or you can play behind-the-shoulder.

Mass Effect 2, Alpha Protocol, Dragon Age:Origins, Diablo 3, next Sins expansion, Elemental, and Divinity 2:Ego Draconis.

That's easy!   The ones I know I'll get:

  • StarCraft 2 -The sequel to my favorite game 10 years ago that will last for 10 years.
  • Diablo 3 - The perfect Action RPG ?
  • Elemental - The closest and best version of Master of Magic/Age of Wonders that's coming
  • Halflife 2 Episode 3 - Good game. Have to get the Orange box soon though....
  • Supreme Commander 2 - Have to try it atleast
  • Left 4 Dead 2 - Have to try it....
  • Majesty 2 - The original was fun (though not being able to directly control your heroes for just two seconds makes me crazy sometimes!) Would give alot for just a few seconds of micromanagement....

Now the ones which I want to try that I found out about through this thread and that I didn't knew of immedietly:

  • Dragon age - I like the moderns variants of games like Fallout and such where you have direct control.
  • Call of Duty - Modern Warfare 2 - Original have been praised and has my pace.

Games on other platforms (Yeah I know but some games I'm just too excited about not to try

  • Twisted Metal PS3 - Twisted Metal was a favorite on the Playstation so the sequel on Playstation 3 must be grand. Thing is, I don't got a PS3 but I'll get one for BluRay and when they break the protection (600 - 700 for a PS3 game??? LOL  )

Dragon Age, Hearts of Iron III, Majesty II, Elemental. I'm up in the air on Bioshock II--I loved the first game (even though I am not usually a shooter fan), but am ambivalent at best about playing as a Big Daddy.

The Star Wars MMO looks interesting, but I've tried virtually every major MMO and none have come close to living up to original EverQuest, which I played compulsively for five years. Basically, they have all followed WoW in dumbing down and watering down the old EQ experience--little to no death penalty or corpse recovery, easy soloing to max level, extreme handholding via the quest structure. I know I am in a clear minority these days, but EQ's death penalty, CR, and forced grouping not only taught people to play their class and created a social dynamic unrivaled in any other MMO, but the very real potential penalties was a major factor in making EQ the compelling experience that it was. My hand literally shook the first time I stood at the portal waiting to zone into the Plane of Fear.

Unlike many posters, I am not particularly looking forward to Mass Effect II. I never got too far in Mass Effect I (I finished the initial Citadel quests and just scratched the surface of the planeary missions, though I keep meaning to go back) . Although I found the both the story and setting quite compelling, ansd the voice acting top notch, these positive factors were overshadowed by the gameplay--combat was too console oriented and twitch dependent for my tastes and, as per usual with Bioware games, the "zones" were rather restrictive and smaller than they appear (I much prefer the open world environments in Bethesda games,). As an old, old (55) gamer brought up on stat based RPGs and lacking the manual dexterity of a teen, my interest goes down as the twitch factor goes up.

Mass effect has a pause feature that allows you to think through your strategy.  You just have to hold down the space bar and use the right mouse button to look around.  It isn't always effective, but I found it most usefull in alot of combat situations.  Just letting you know as a fellow 'old' gamer. (but not quite as old... I'm 40) ;P

I suggest giving Mass Effect another try.

The games I am looking forward to are:

Mass Effect 2

Star Wars TOR MMO

Champions Online

Maybe Mirror's Edge 2 (If they ever actually make the sequel.)
