REALLY - IS THERE ANYTHING THAT DOESN'T GO WRONG IN THIS GAME????

with all serousness - i bought this game since it really had some potential. it looks great and there is great depth in its strategy. unfortunately there are ENDLESS flaws in its connectivity:

pings, lags, disconnections, hangs, and what not...

i really tried to fix it with the help that you gave here in the forum.

i did everything you proposed, and i did manage to get one decent game with good connection.

since then however, i cant even get to the game lobby.

what more is there to say????  (except "i want my money back")

I fail to see how a ping would be a bad thing... since its nothing mroe then a small amount of data sent to a target to see if anything is there or not...

Rest of your poits do stand; but when i play with people who know how to step up their own network we never have any issues playing with each other (our own 3v3)

Maybe you're on dial up? Give us specs of your system. Run a speed test.

That is PING as in the test program...

As opposed to a user's ping - which is their response to data time - the higher it is, the longer you have to wait for an answer to your question...

The upload is important, the download is like always sufficient.

Yeah this. To explain how ping works, imagine talking to a person in real life. If I say 'Orange' and they reply 'Apple', the ping would be the number of miliseconds it takes for them to reply. If I say 'Orange' and it takes them .6 of a second to reply then they've got 600 Ping. It's the same in game, except until they've responded I can't send them another query, which is why high ping is a bad thing.

I know very well what a ping is. Reguardless in its use at this time; it is doing the same thing. How long target X is taking to send something back to you.

The ping it self isn't an issue. Its pretty much jsut telling you how long its taking to talk to a target's box.

You haven't really provided enough details about your setup for us to help you start troubleshooting your issue. First, we need an accurate speed test. Head over here, and post back the image that the site gives you. Next, describe your network set up:
Is your computer connected directly to a modem, or is there a router? Are you apart of a network, or are you the only computer? Please also post the make and model of your equipment.

Have you successfully forwarded your ports and verified that they're been forwarded correctly? Have you tried forcing the use of the Proxy Servers? If so, what difference have you noticed - however small - in your connectivity?

In this case is lag. -_-

If you're downloading in anyway, using the internet, Your ping will go sky high because of all the data going through the modem at once. Then physical distance is an issue as well, Where the host is and where you are and also how high the host's ping is. In an FPS you don't want a ping higher than 150ms. With RTS you don't want to hit 250-300ms

Honestly, if you are connecting to players around your region, all under 350 ping andno negative sim speed, youll have a blast.

If your upload speed is not that flash, youll maybe get a maximum 3v3 or 4v4.

The problem with demigod as you may have noticed, is that it might not even be your connection. If a person you are playing with is lagging or has a bad comp then you too will lag and crash.

1st. Check your upload.

2nd check where the people ae playing with.

If you're downloading in anyway, using the internet

In Australia, it is more likely to be UPLOADING due to the Asynchronous net speeds we have... Most players know they cannot have downloads going while playing DG - if this rule is followed, ping is less of an issue - bandwidth is more important (esp upload as I stated) - ping doesn't measure this...
