Installing/uninstalling updates

Technical question:

I have the latest version of Sins, Entrenchment and Impulse. Impulse automatically detects and applies updates to Entrenchment before allowing me to play it. My question is whether there is a way to either stop it from downloading updates, or simply advising me that there's an update but NOT installing it?

And a similar question, is is possible to roll back updates to a previous version?

This was brought on when I saw that 7DS wasn't running anymore (obviously) and whenever I tried to re-enable it my comp would COMPLETELY lock up. So rather than pester Danman and the rest of the guys about it, perhaps its possible to remove updates, kinda like with drivers in Windows? Short of reinstalling the entire thing, that is....

Sorry, I missed this post initially.

Impulse does not actually force update downloads on you. It tells you when one is available, but you don't have to update if you don't want to.

However, there's no way to roll back to an earlier version if you don't have an archive of the previous versioned game to install from.

Ok, thanks for the info. So, assuming (hypothetically) that I had Impulse open, and was ready to play some SINS, but there was an update, how would I go about playing without updating? Every time I see it, the "Run" button says "Update" and the right-click menu does not list the run command on the Entrenchment icon in Impulse. Thoughts?

You can always run from your own shortcut, or there should be a right click option within Impulse to "hide this update". To show it again, I believe the option is in the Impulse orb menu. Sorry, I'm not home right now and can't open up Impulse for the exact location.

Your best bet would be to just run the game from your own shortcut because Impulse still shows 'Update' on the button even if the update is set to be ignored. To show hidden updates if you hide them, click the Impulse orb in the upper left and then click 'Preferences'. The second checkbox is 'Show hidden updates'.

The one time I actually tried it, it did actually show the Run button instead of Update. But that was a fairly long time ago.

Also, assuming you would like to create an archive each time an update is released so you have something to roll back to, you can set this up via preferences as well. Click the orb, then preferences, then 'Archive & Install' on the left. Place a check in the box that says 'Archive applications before updating'. Assuming you have the hard drive space, you will be able to roll back in the future to any one that you made previously.

I see it now, awesome, thanks! I've done that, so HOPEFULLY when 7DS comes out for Entrenchment, I'll be able to play it as long as I darn well feel like, regardless of game updates!
