Racial/Cultural access to certain Technology

Sorry if something like this was already posted

Anyone who's ever read a fantasy book or played a fantasy themed game can agree with me that certain races have access or use only certain types of technology. For instance, dwarves, as we know, are naturally industrial minded and thus they have better mining facilities, forges, etc; where as elves, especially wood elves, tend to be more rustic nature oriented. What i'm suggesting here is to have race/culture specific tech trees to make the races more unique.

A simple method is to have basic categories:

     1.) Balanced

     2.) Warrior Culture

     3.) Industrial Society

     4.) Merchant

     5.) Pacifists

     6.) Nature folk

so are you're ideas?

I am not sure about the mundane techs, but I think this kind of diversity in the spell research area is exactly what will give each faction it's identity. It would be cool if some mundane tech was faction specific as well.

I believe it has been mentioned that regular humans are better with technology while the fallen humans are better with magic. I don't think the regular tech will be totally neglected in Elemental it will just always be in the backseat while magic does the driving.

I have some hopes for this aswell. Have the devs actually talked any length on the subject at all? We know that Fallen/Human will be very different, but what of the kingdoms and empires within those races?

Can we expect Twilight of the Arnor standard between the different nations, or just between the two races?

Yeah, I remember that, too. Humans appear to be more "progressive" while the Fallen appear to be ruled by the drives that brought about the Cataclysm.

Well, I understand that race-specific trees are probably going to get included as is.

Frogboy has stated that each race will have its own tech tree, and that each faction will have a few unique techs in addition. So based on that i don't think we'll be seeing drastic differences between each faction's mundane tech trees...

But like others have said, Magic is where it'll probably be at. Frogboy has, in the same post, said that magic is where the focus will be on differentiating factions.

Thats how I understand it as well.   Fallen and Human have totally different tech trees, with minor changes within the respective tech trees on a per faction level.
