Stability issues once upgraded to ObjectDock Plus

Greetings all,

Well after taking advantage of the deal offered to upgrade from the free version to Plus, my WinXP (Windowblinded) dual screen happy machine has become sad indeed. After installing the update to Plus several issues have become immediately apparent. 1) load times are awful at system startup 2) More often than not upon shutting down the famous unable to unload DLL window appears identifying Object Dock.

Luckily I have a complete Ghost Image which I create before I install any applications. Having re-installed this image I was back to my old perfect machine. I then re-installed the Plus version to see whether it was an issue with the first install. No luck. The same load hog issues reappeared along with the shutdown error. So I'm back to my Image that works flawlessly with the free ObjectDock.

It's a shame really but a waste of money and time and certainly not an upgrade that I would recommend. And I appreciate that all systems are unique to a degree but the fact that the base ObjectDock continues to work flawlessly it would suggest that the Plus version has some bugs.

Not sure when the last revision was done (I suspect 2007)

Thought people should know.

1) did you uninstall the free version before installing Plus version, for all Stardock apps this is the best method as the free/trial verions are not upgradeable.

2) can't remember off hand but I have seen posts concerning OD Plus and dual monitors.

3) the latest release build does have some known issues, seem to vary due to peoples systems, for myself after a reboot OD Plus seems to lose shortcut links, must close and restart it then it works fine. There had been a couple betas out but they got pulled as had more bugs. OD 2.0 is in the works and when ready it will be the next update ( no timeline).

Latest relese version I believe varies between Impulse and Stardock Central, not sure which is latest or most stable.

I would suggest sending an email to Stardock Support and explaining the problem.  The would be able to help you out.  Before doing that though, ensure that you did as Cavan1 suggested.  i.e. removing the free version of OD before installing the Plus version.

I'm sure he's talking about the 10 dollar purchase, which wasn't technically an "upgrade"...

When I upgraded to OD+ through Impulse, it uninstalled OD free first. Haven't had any problems on Vista or Win 7 with it.
