Early Game Itemization Strat[?]

What do most of you do as soon as the game starts as far as spending money on items? Do you spend everything you have on low level items? Buy your favorite favor item? Save it for better gear a little later? Early upgrades for the Citadel? For the longest time I would get the first tower upgrade from the Citadel and save the rest for later, but starting to think that's not the best plan. I usually play TB.

As an ooze UB I spend my first 1k gold on the gauntlets of brutality and banded armor, and use the blood of the fallen favor item. I generally tend to skimp out on the citadel upgrades depending on how the game is going, but I'll try and get the first gold and XP upgrades before mid-game if no one else on my team has.

AS TB, I find that you should spend your starting money on a helm for mana and some armor/health. You'll need it. The building upgrade isn't as important so early, and you can easily afford it later.

Do you spend everything you have on low level items?

I will almost always do this. You get 80% of your money back when you resell your items, so it's worth it.

Save it for better gear a little later?

I don't generally do this. Never save for an artifact at level 1. It has n00b written all over it. Generally, the lower cost items actually have a better benefit/cost ratio. Usually, you should get better items only after you run out of slots.

Buy your favorite favor item?

When I use a build that relies on teleporting, I'll usually get the amulet of teleportation. Otherwise, I try to wait before I buy my favor item. It's usually a good idea to see what strategies your opponent is using before buying a favor item.

My early game item strategy as a tank Ooze UB: Banded armor, TP scroll, combat health potion. On my first trip back to the citadel, scalemail (so I can charge through towers for kills easier) and the tower health upgrade. From there, stack health.

I do:

Banded Armor/scaled Helm for Sedna

For UB I do Banded Armor/Teleport/Flag Lock, and I've been known to do a Banded Armor/Scale Armor once or twice.

Depends a bit on the map.  On cataract, with an early offensive DG lineup, I'll grab a flag lock to lock the middle flag.

Banded armor is pretty solid, though get Scale Mail if you go with Blood of the Fallen, especially on a large map.

Scaled helm is very favor item/dg dependant. It can be the little boost you need to keep the mana train going, especially for middle weight mana spenders, but honestly, you are better of saving for the Vlemish.

Don't you only lose like 150gp for buying then selling scaled helm?

Yes, in general the low end stuff is always worth buying because of this.

My opening is either Banded Armor or Scale Mail + Combat Health Pot + Teleport Scroll.  Which armor I use depends on the Demigod as some really do need the armor that Scale Mail offers since their natural armor is extremely low.

As far as citadel upgrades, in my opinion, the only necessary ones in the early game are both tier 1 tower upgrades and the currency upgrade.

Yeah, something like that, but if you've ever played a 'consummable' item style, you know that every little bit counts.

2 combat health potions + Cap lock (cata) + TP scroll

You outlast anyone in your lane and get an early goal advantage that pays for itself.

As UB on big maps:

- 2 tp scrolls

- banded

Use one tp immediately, cap one flag, run to the next, get back to your lane, you are lev 2 with 2 caped flags and your oponent arrives at lev1

- blood if i plan on going ooze direct.

- the mana regen on hit item if i go spit first. depends on who is in front

On smaller maps (cataract)

- banded

- 1tp

- 1 lock for mid flag

Alternatively i have been experimenting with a build only using the first 2 levels of spit begining of game before switching to ozze then i start with banded and 2 combat mana pot. Again depends on who is in front.

hi

i spend the first 1000 coins for these items

torchbearer(fireball): 1x universal item (which can shoot for 650dmg)

1x health potion and a teleportscroll 1x special item to have +250mana -10%cast time amu

torchbearer(blizzard): 1x teleportscroll 1x health potion

2x flagblock 1x special item to run faster +15% speed amu

the fireball torchbearer i choose if i have to play very offensive (like killing other demigods to win or fast rushing through a couple of towers) the blizzard torchbearer i play if i have to cover an area or a hotspot where the action goes up for long a time (capturing and defending flags and portals or giving backup with the burst damage effect)

thats it..

I usually pick my ammy of teleportation favor, and a banded armor + scale helm. No matter of the demigod I play.

Against erebus, Id take the scalemail instead. Might drop a few coins on a totem of revelation if I can afford to stay in the base for those 50 gold to show up.

I usually take Banded Armor/Scalemail + Scaled Helm for most builds (and Totem of Revelation if I pick Scalemail), the armor depends on if my favor item is Blood of the Fallen or not.

Hey what's noob about buying boots of speed? I do it combined with swift anklet and just use them to kill/harass people early on.  I don't know what you're talking about.

Using boot of speed + Swift anklet = pushing out of the lane quickly...you dont have enough HP to last fights.
