Wait, what? Yes. There's borders on the first screenshot. Oh my god! You're right! There will be borders in this game! Revolutionary! As for the second screenshot.. you do realize that that is a comparison between the Elemental map and a Civilization 4 map, right? I mean, if it actually said so in another text, beside a link to the screenshot, it could maybe explain the confusion, but it says so in the same bloody screenshot!

Damnit, you beat me to it! I guess I can add that not only does it say in the screenshot that it's a comparison between Elemental and Civ IV maps, but it also says so in the file name.

Looking at the forests on the maps, I wonder how it will effect units travelling through them.  I also wonder if some units will have advantages/penalties travelling and fighting on different terrain.

I REALLY hope the devs incorperate terrain modifiers (generalized and unit/building specific).

Deep breaths, people.  ^_^ I know not everything I say is lucid.

I consider it fairly basic. A ranger wouldn't be a ranger unless he had bonuses when attacking from or in forests.

Fantasy-wise, of course. Rangers don't actually attack people in the real world.

Mounties, on the other hand...

I don't know which is worse!

Is Red Bull required for Elemental, or does Elemental require Red Bull to be fully appreciated?

I was thinking Reb Bull might be necessary to get through the huge maps on 64 bit OS within a few years.

damn that map is HUGE, this game makes me feel the way I did back when SINS hype started to build before the beta's, and I like that feeling! :dur:

Talking about forests I wonder if there will be a type of hero like robin hood. A guy just keeps to the forest without any loyalty ties and just keeps embusing everybody wagon trains :erk:

I remember seeing those maps a while back and now that I see the huge one I got that fuzzy feeling all over again.

Gosh can,t wait to try this out.

You mean "will there be bandits and highwaymen?"  ;P

I would want an event (especially for evil channelers) where a robinhood type figure shows up and steals from caravans and evil heroes (which makes it different from a regular bandit, which would only steal from caravans, not being badass enough to steal from a hero)

I would want there to be no need for such events, but that I'd be able to carry that out against my adversaries myself.

My Special Tactics and Reconissance Unit (STRU) is going to carry that out, with bow and arrow. :D

I would actually like 'events' like that. It would fit in very nicely with Brad's description of Elemental taking place in a sort of D&D world where you're the leader of one of the empires that have to deal with those pesky adventurers. Adventurers and heroes showing up and behaving contextually would be really neat :)

In Landisaurus's example, that robinhood-type figure could then be recruited by a neighboring, benevolent channeler who is in conflict with the evil one.

Definately worth an attempt.
