DISABLE DESYNC DIALOGS GODDAMNIT!

If a "Desync Detected" dialog pops up in the game, and I am about to cast mines or such, I DO NOT GET A CURSOR SO I CANNOT CLOSE THE DIALOG!

The thing is, in a game where this dialog pops up, it doesn't just pop up once, but every few bloody seconds or so, making the game almost unplayable!

I must add that this game has seemingly just gotten worse and worse with patches, regarding the online experience. This is now nowhere near retail status. This is like playing an early beta test, or even alpha.

If a game is desynchronized you aren't supposed to keep playing anymore. There is no point in continueing a game that desynchronized.

If that is the case, why didn't the people who designed the game made it end automatically?

If a desync occurs, the match is already shot. There is not much point in continuing to try playing it as other players won't even be playing the same game. As time goes on, what you see and what they see will become more and more different to the point where (for example) you may see a player alive while another sees him dead, or two players may see opposite sides win the match.

They did that in Supreme Commander, but only for games that were made over GPGnet. And it immediately closed the application. I guess they could implement it in Demigod too, but instead throw you directly back to the game list or something.

Anyway, the point is... if you see it, just leave the game, one way or another ;).

If only we had some kind of computer capable of running the game for us, and serving us with the information on how it's running... we could have a central place, an arbiter that is always right. We could call this mystical machine.... a dedicated server!

Even more of a reason to just dump the dialog and just end the game.

In a game where there are multiple people (lets say player a b c vs 1 2 3) And Player 3 desyncs, it should just auto kick player 3 and lets the rest of the people keep playing.

They had this issue with SupCom too at first.

Why do they have these errors in the first place?

I've played games online since Quake and Half-Life, through Dawn of War and World in Conflict, and I've never seen another game have this.

Star Trek: Armada and Earth 2160 had this problem too.

i agree.

But i think there is a sollution to this problem. When u host a game, u can chose how many "timeouts" u can get. Default is "endless" or something. I usualy have it on 3. So, in theory, it shud b no more then 3 desync's, then the player are hollin ass. I havent been able to test this, cuz in my 3 weeks with this game, i only detected a couple of desyncers.

I may b misstaken, but its worth a try?

@HK416: the timeout option is for how many times players can pause the game (never, 3 times or infinite).
