Survey #2 available at surveymonkey

I feel like I did a bit better on this survey, hope you all agree and enjoy it! I will probably wait a bit longer to post results, so as not to "foul the waters" with other opinions. Please keep it bumped!

I expect there will, at minimum be one update. I was surprised that we went over 50 responses in under 24 hours, the first survey from a week ago only had 53 responses total. But yes we have already had 5 more responses since I posted results, so I am sure there will be an update.

Damn, so I did take it too late?

Well, good job anyways. Altough the former student of sociology here must complain about the first one: that kind of question is bad bad to force a single answer. I do many things while I wait!!! (and always add a N/A option)

He usually posts an update, go take it now!

I'm not surprised that auto-resolve is unpopular. It's something you typically want to use when a fight is a foregone conclusion, not on anything important. Of course, that's because in the past it hasn't been that great compared to a human. Maybe with the extra computing power available today that can improve. (I know AoW didn't actually run the combat simulation if you did auto-resolve, it used some fast calculations instead. The result was pretty inaccurate, but much more practical on big maps with lots of AI fighting each other on the computers of the day.)

It's unpopularity doesn't mean it shouldn't be there. It should be there. It just shouldn't be something forced on you.

Yeah, a lot of us have quad cores and 8 gigs of ram....it would be great to pump that into AI algorythms.

Errr, that said I realise that MOST of us don't have uber systems like that.  It would be a neat feature though if the AI could make use of uber hardware when it is present.

3. Tactical Combat: There have been several ideas regarding tactical combat: Complete autoresolve (AI runs both sides and determines casualties and outcome of tactical battles) Autoresolve with weighting based on battles you fought yourself, Autoresolve but with ability to script unit behavior (like Dominions), tactical real time battles, with AI running units, but player can give orders that over-ride the AI (units with no orders will do their best to be useful), or completely player controlled tactical battles (units will do nothing until ordered) Rate how strongly you like or dislike each concept. If you do not understand a concept (for instance do not know how Dominions works) please select the NA box. Also note that these are not exclusive, multiple options of these or other possibilities could be included.

I find myself disturbed to be holding so many majority opinions.

Hehe, you aren't the rebel you thought you were....or maybe we are all rebels.

I can think of three options.

You're not all idiots, meaning you're an above average subset of the species as a whole.  Possible, but unlikely.  More likely than if this were a different genre, but still...

You're not all idiots, meaning I'm wrong and people aren't idiots.  Implausible, based on known information such as current and previous poltical choices, continual repetition of history in spite of an education on it, Sponge Bob, etcetera.

I'm an idiot of comparable stupidity to the average idiot.  The logical choice. :(

4th option; I design the polls to get what I want. }:)

I was really surprised at how evenly split question 4 ended up. I mean, there is only 1/3 of a rating step between the top choice and the 4th faviorite. I was also surprised that "Dying curse" was the least popular choice, I expected it to be more popular than landwaster for sure. But if there were no surprises, it wouldn't be much fun, would it? :)

Well, I can't speak for the others, but to me a landwaster is a bit more logical than a death curse: you've poured you very life force into that land: when your life force  goes away, so does most of the land.
