As some of you know, the Elemental Beta 0 got nixed due to us needing to throw developers onto Demigod to help GPG and Raknet with the online experience.  The team is starting to migrate back and we’re all glad to be back on Elemental but we did lose some time.

But we are still pushing to have an Alpha build on June 25th to give out.  It’ll be cloth map only (so what you see in the above screenshot won’t be in the alpha series and the betas will look a lot better than what you see above too). 

For the alpha series we’re only going to select around 100 people to be in it.  It’ll be a lottery.  Picture a big hat with players getting for each Stardock game they' have – GalCiv, Sins of a Solar Empire, Demigod who have also pre-ordered Elemental.  The team is also pre-selecting about two dozen people who have been really helpful in the past from the community to be in it as well. 

We’re pretty excited because we plan to do this somewhat differently than other builds.

No doubt brother. Lets hope that worm has turned.

Additionally, even though those selected for the inital list may be random for the majority, the selectees can chose to accept the guidlines or not. It is a win/win for all concerned parties.

@GW - Accountability is key in my not so humle opinion. Moreover forgive my lack of clarity. A DB was part of the intended meaning. Sorry I often type these things at 3:00AM or later. Consequently my fingers and brain get lazy due to my very long work days.

If Stardock doesn't set up an organized, focused bug hunt the alpha testers can.  All they have to do is direct us every so often.

no way, GW has the volcan greeting/farewell for an avatar now.  (as for the others, I'm not sure how to tell them apart :D   there is Lord kosc and a paradox guy.   I think the names are seeping into my brain anyway.)

For those of us that don't make it... Please keep the tidbits comming!   And for those of us that DO make it.  Give good feedback so it becomes a game we can all love!  I don't know how many thousands of hours I lost to playing Master of Magic or Civilization for just one more turn....

 

 
 

Sadly enough I think a NDA will be the first order of business. I could be wrong however, but it would seem so...

The watershed factor for this title is very high in my opinion and careful information management will be a key factor it controlling the hype and hip factor.

 

Actualy I was talking more to the Developers for the first part.  I've seen many games that the developers give tibits here and there and even some that do a "weekly" thing that suddenly drops dead the moment beta starts.  So those of us who don't make it are sad!  I was NOT encouraging anyone to break NDA.  My part to the players who make it to Beta/Alpha is to give good feedback.  I should of been more clearn in my first post. sorry!

I think this game got potential as hell, especially since Im a big fan of Heroes of Might and Magic and Civilisation, Will be fun to start getting some more info about it.

I preordered it at a point when it costed less than it does now.   I even contacted sales about it (I assume thats melibee) for fear I didn't have the collector's edition somehow, but was assured its just because I was one of the first to pre-order.  at the time it was $40 or $45 (don't remember exactly) so the 20% off thing might have been missed already.

you, Sevenix, I would almost expect to be in the pre-selected 24 because of the work you've done in demigod, which means you may want to think about pre-ordering soon anyway.

I'm sorry, I was reviewing my records and I made a mistake.   I got elemental confused with another game.   The reason for the confusion is I contacted support about it and they responded to what I said with a confirmation, even though my statement was wrong.

 You were able to take advantage of a lower price since you ordered so early.

but its because I expressed a price that was not the price I payed.

(apparently I'm retarded sometimes.)

Well.. hopefully I can get in the action.  I am fairly useful as QA.  Detailed bug reports as well and offer suggestions as to what in game items can be improved.

Will there be a closed forum for alpha/beta testers? Since there´s no NDA, I´m wondering how the community will talk to the dev team.
