Error received with update

Everytime I start Impulse and go to My Software there is an update for MyColors. I click to install the update and I get  this message from my Comodo Internet Security Program that there is a virus and the program doesn't update. The error I receive is: Heur.Suspicious @20669931 - ProgramData\Stradock\Impluse\Temporary\ExtractedFiles\tmd\Base\ThemeMGR.exe. I have submitted this error to the Comodo submission site. The version of Comodo Internet Security is 3.9.95478.509 and the Virus Signature Database Version is : 1228. I was wondering if anyone is receiving this error when they try and update MyColors? Is there a threat here or is this a false positive? I am still waiting on the confirmation either way from Comodo.

False positive.  Disable Comodo and install.  Reboot and enable.  All will be well.

I exited from Comodo Internet Security completely and did the update and almost the same thing happened. I did the update like you said and when the computer rebooted and reloaded. I went back into Impluse and there was MyColors with an update available. There was no way to enable MyColors and I still have the grayed out MyColors with the update available.

I uninstalled MyColors and downloaded the most current version from Stardock. After I did a registry clean with CCleaner and no errors were found. I did a clean install with Comodo Internet Security closed (completely exited from the program) I tried to reinstall the most recent version and this was the error I received. " Decompression Error Access to path C:\ProgramData\Stardock\Impulse\Temporary\ExtractedFiles\tmd\Base\ThemeMGR.exe is denied. There may have been a false positive in the first explanation but what would cause this error? There may be something wrong with the downloaded file or a problem with the file on the download server?

I discovered a sure fire fix with all of these errors you receive with the Impulse and Stardock programs. It's called uninstall. I am removing anything associated with both names. There is no reason to reply since you have been working on a resolution for the past few days. May be when you get some software engineers that are dedicated to their work may be a resloution can be reached. :'(

CyberChief...it isn't Impulse or MyColors which are "guilty". It's the Comodo giving you a warning. In this case, the warning isn't a "true" one.

Well, it's your choice, of course...but when it's based on "believing" the software. imo it's a mistaken one. SD isn't 'infecting' your computer/s. Maybe your comments about the software engineers should be directed to Comodo...

Don't really know who you are but if you had actually read my previous post it was never stated that I thought my computer was being infected. I was the one who asked if this was a false positive. I checked with Comodo and was assured that this was a false positive, and the problem may be with the software. If you had taken the time to read other forum posts on this same matter you would have seen that this has been a problem since the middle of May. Remember " Be sure brain is engaged before putting mouth in gear." Don't be so quick to choose sides, choosing the wrong team to defend could come back and bite you in the rear....... My comments were not to point a finger, but I feel before you release a product to the public it should have been tested to prior to it's release. Doesn't seem like there is much quality assurance with some developers.

The product is fine. I have it installed, downloaded the update with no problem. It is not the software that is the problem. As for the software devs, SD makes some great products that I rarely have had problems with (and if I did, SD support was there to help......over Thanksgiving holiday nonetheless).

Try starting a ticket with SD support.........

... such as your Comodo which claims that clean software has viruses, which is exactly what DrJBHL was saying.

Incase you don't get it: You REALLY should uninstall Comodo, and install security that will not consider clean software you want to use malicious.

I would strongly suggest doing this as opposed to just deleting everything.  Drop us an email at [email protected] , and we'll get you back up and running.
