Signatures
Do we get one ?
So, you admit that you know you were the ass who instigated it and yet you keep typing as if you have a point. I'll bet your childhood story is tragic. Not interesting. Just tragic.
That is my quote before you spinned it. What part of it do I need to dumb down for you? I'll do my best but in the end you basement dwellers will be featured on the new reality series... When Teachers Fail.
A whole gang of you and all you can come up with is calling me an asshole. priceless!
"When signatures attack" coming this summer on fox. lol.
Delusions of adequacy. I suppose I should give you a break for not being able to follow. Evidently, English isn't your first language.
My only question is how do you breathe?
Edit - forgot the smiley. You likey the smiley, right?
NT is right....you're going to have to do better than "asshole".
Not that I wish to hinder this entertainmant, but Stardock said "NO" to the signatures (for all you folks on the short bus see reply #4).
That should have ended it. But no, people come out of the woodwork and make a one eighty. Congratulations....you're fuckin' lost.
Hey asshole, get the cat off the couch and get the beer out....I'll be over.
(insert 'smiley where the sun doesn't shine' here)
I have found that some people have (de)evolved into being able to breathe out of their asses.
On topic, can someone explain to me exactly why signatures are a bad idea? If you don't like it you don't have to read it, and if someone has an inappropriate sig you could just disable their ability to have one.
I'll get the beer out but I'm hiding the cat from you. ![]()
Mottikahn, you have a nice day. The grownups have work to do. ![]()
It's miller time for me. Well.... Sam Adams time anyways.
That should have ended it. But no, people come out of the woodwork and make a one eighty. Congratulations....you're fuckin' lost.
The continuation of this so called 'conversation' has nothing to do with wanting or not wanting the forum supported ability to insert a signature. It has to do with the fact that some people feel that it's fine to denigrate others simply because they don't happen to share the same *opinion* on the subject.
In point of fact the actual subject is totally immaterial. It all stems from some folks absolute demand to be 100% right in all things which therefore makes any contrary opinion 100% wrong.
Asshole is certainly an appropriate appellation but actually troll is probably technically more correct.
So since you and your beer buddy are trolls, the only thing to do is to stop feeding you. Of course this will give you the mistaken impression that you've somehow "won" which is something you apparently need to offset your obviously well founded feelings of inadequacy, so feel free to dance about proclaiming your victory as your betters simply withdraw from the thread.
Hooray! Hooray! You've "won" an argument on the internet. You're on a roll (a troll on a roll).
Now is probably a good time for you to try out for Special Olympics. ![]()
For once, i have actually refrained from calling anybody...anything. Insult me if you wish, but don't put words in my mouth.
I actually added the Adblock Plus line as an acknowledgment that some of you do not like the idea of sigs and i thought i would be tongue in cheek about it. I mistakenly figured those in opposition to the idea would be intelligent enough to see the humor in it, i see in your case i was mistaken.
If i were to behave like a punk about this, i would have lead in with something about your mom or you lack of penis length...or something similarly immature.
In fact you have caught me on a fine day and all i can say is, i am still amused by the fact that a 350 X 35 .png advertising my Galactic Civilizations 2 Metaverse Empire, a Stardock product by the way, has got you so pissed off that you are still, 2 days later attempting to insult others and make yourself feel better about a small and indignant life.
I have no issue with SD not allowing sigs...thats fine with me. Peronally made efforts are just as good, and have been in use across many SD sites for years. I don't see that changing any time soon.
Night Train and yrag...i have to ask. Does there happen to be an Interstate near you?
"Captain! I don't think the topic can hold this much longer! Her shields are down, the hull is critical, and we've already reversed the polarity!"
The problem is that they bring absolutely nothing to the table. They take up space, tend to be abnoxious and distracting, and they don't do anything useful. I think a username and avatar combo is all of someone's personality I need to know. The rest is in their posts. But to each his own, eh? If people really wanted them, I could live with the extra time scrolling. I'm sure the rest of the world could too.
Silly rabbits. Dontcha know by now that the longer a post the more riled up someone is?
Me= short calm collect posts.
you all= long confusing circular repetetive posts.
Now I hope come morning a mod sees this and bans us all. It will be worth it to see you all cry to your moms.

I disagree. The empire signature's widely used on GC2.com enable the poster to readily show to which empire he is a member of and it also promotes that empire, as the success of any empire, clan driven system is the members you are able to have.
It's not always about the poster that you need to know about, though i'll admit that depends on the game/site. I'll grant that a banner type sig offers very little to those on JU or WC. It does however and has proven to be very effective (just ask Kryo, he made a heap himself) for promoting ones empire (in games with such a system), a notion that i'm sure will be seen very soon with the Clans on Demigod.
We're talking about one or two lines of text here, i doubt extra scrolling is really required.
Lok, each to their own, i for one have not said that SD needs them, i am not bothered in the least that they don't. I except that there are many folks who don't like em, fine, don't read them, or as i suggested previously use Adblock Plus, or some equivalent to block the image.
Saying they bring nothing to the table is your opinion, and i respect that. I do find them useful and don't mind the line or two extra of text needed to accommodate them.
As for the ones i don't care for...i simply don't read them...they do not obstruct my ability to read the forums in any way.
I agree Kitkun....
Night Train, your an amusing guy.....
Negative 50 karma for night train
. But agreed he definitely should just be ignored.
Anyways, most clans or gaming forums ive been to use signatures as a way for people to create art on a down day. Like if you're not doing so hot and just want to relax you can show what you like to others. Not saying i want it or don't but usually it doesnt end up being a bad thing..
w/e
Well I'm gonna f**k you all up if signatures come in and any are forgeable... I'll take 'em to the bank and withdraw whatever cash is attached to each
LOL

And yet you do it again yourself, all in one post. That makes you just as guilty as anyone else going offtopic in this thread. But alas, you are right, this topic is lost.
Me as the topic starter am a bit confused on how this trivial matter can be such inflamatory.
Not having participated in the verbal brawl I can give at least one conclusion: Night Train is an arse.
But apart from all that I'd like to say that I understand why some people want or don't want signatures:
Con:
* When abused they become incredibly annoying.
* Waste of space.
* Signatures distract from the post.
Pro:
* Adds a personal note to your posts.
* Can contain beneficial information (I like to place links to favored guides and tools).
* Can advertise guild affiliation or, in case of Demigod, your Pantheon standings.
It's not like we can't sign our posts manually or per greasemonkey script if we really want to, but it's convenient to have that standard feature if signatures are indeed allowed.
And not every signature will look like this:
I'm in favor of signatures.
Why?
Because then we can get an choice to NOT show signatures. ![]()
When people add signatures manually, the choice is theirs, not mine.
Locking the post.
Question asked, answered, debated, flamed.

If Brad did that I'd rush over to the US and feed him to his bees....;)
Due to a system hack I missed all this....um....crap.
Probably fortunate for you ALL.
Zubaz has the right idea.
