multiplayer game speed. normal vs slow

Whats the speed of your usual well organized multiplayer game?

Slow makes more sense to me given the amount of stuff going on at any given time.

never tried slow, i always play in normal. I avoid the custom cheesy options because on the long term they make you suck big time.

For exemple in supreme commander many players were stuck with the 2X ressources option and never played ranked games because they were totally unable to manage a real economy (the 2X factor totally kills the need to know what you do with your economy).

I think it is the same with Demigod, slow speed would allow you to have better control over the game, but that is not a way to gain some skill, and there are not so many things going on at the same time, you just have to keep an eye on what your opponents are doing and there are only 1-5 of them.

i like +1 adjustable speed more! its quick and fun especially against bots since i cant play online :/

how can you even consider playing with slow gamespeed?^^

i like to play on +2 adjustable, but most players don't like it so i stick with the normal setting

Normal speed feels like crawling to me, i cant imagine playing it even slower. I usually go +1 in custom games.

The only custom setting i change is tower strength as they seem a little weak to me.

This seems like a good thead for me to make this point in:

Please, please people.  If you're going to change custom options, put it in the game title or announce it to the players prior to the match.

I was in a match the other day where the host buffed towers way up but nobody really took the time to look and didn't notice.  Of course, the typical gameplay ensues where one of the other team gets low and I start chasing them down.  They run into their towers and I begin pursuit, knowing I can survive a few tower hits.  However, then I see that the tower is doing way more damage than it should and I die.  (Basically, free kill for them when it should have been a kill for me in a normal game).

Furthermore, besides the initial penalty of having to discover what these borked settings are, there's the prolonged effects throughout the game.  People don't realize how much in a game like this you get a "feel" for stuff.  When I'm chasing someone into towers, I generally can tell how far I can run at how much health and when I should turn back in order to survive.  When the settings are tweaked to something that isn't standard, but something that the host is familiar with then that gives him an immediate advantage.

Custom settings can be fun, but for normal online PUG play it's best to just stick with default.  Almost every game I've seen that starts with custom settings there's someone who didn't know prior, then ends up quitting because of it.

I played an entire Domination game last night and didn't even realize that it wasn't Conquest until I heard the "The Forces of Darkness are Moments from Victory" announcement.

Hey, I think I was playing against you.

Slow is horribly too slow for any sort of competitive online play. I can see it working out for a room of new players that need to get their bearings. I would really prefer if the game speed was either left where it is or MAYBE even +1 speed.

Normal is fine. Agreed with previous posters, please state customs settings in game title.

Normal.  Always normal.  Fast is garbage.  Fast is stupid.  Fast makes autoattack heroes like Regulus and UB dominate.  You need time to use your skills.  You can't interrupt anyone on fast.

STOP PLAYING FAST.

STOP TURNING THE TOWER STRENGTH TO HIGH.  It completely throws off the mechanics of the game.  The creep hp and damage and ability strength has been meticulously balanced to NORMAL tower strength.  By putting it on high you are rendering certain heroes significantly weaker.  Like QoT.  Killing towers early is part of the game and you need to come to terms with that. Ability damage doesn't suddenly scale even though the towers have 50% more hp.

Normal creeps are supposed to live through TWO shots from a tower.  This allows you to get some hits in each wave and retreat.  Towers deal 250-300 damage normally.  This is taking into account the normal health of heroes. When towers are dealing 400 damage to you it means you can't fight anyone near towers EVER.  You can't chase people.  This is not the way the game is supposed to be played.

If you think the towers are too weak, buy citadel upgrades, or defend them.

Why is it that all the hosts that turn tower strength to high are mostly using Regulus?  Well duh, he doesn't have to deal with the idiotic strength towers.  Think of the game balance, for the love of god.

+Infinity.  I'm sick of going into games and the ONE game I don't check is when some fool puts the tower strength on high, or the speed on high, or the respawn timer on low (the worst thing you can do, don't get me started).  You find out immediately in game and now you have to suffer through a stupid game with stupid rules because the host is the only person on the planet who thought it was a good idea.

Does it occur to you that you are not the only one with opinions?

Does it occur to you that just having an opinion doesn't make it valuable?  I backed up mine with some pretty important reasons why you shouldn't mess with these settings.

Not stupid at all man, I was a bit overwhelmed my first few games too. Lots of new skills and items to choose from just starting out. =P

People actually play on slow gamespeed? I find normal to be a little slower than I'd like already! And fast is too fast, why isn't there an option for each of the speeds you can choose in adjustable mode? I'd like to be able to set my games from -5 to +5 from the lobby instead of the  "slow, normal, fast, adjustable".

I have to agree with InfiniteVengeance that high tower strength overly buffs a few Demigods whilst it kicks lots of builds in the teeth, which makes it an unbalanced setting, and I have noticed most hosts who do it seem to be playing as Regulus as well. :S
