Status of Beta in June?

"I can say that Beta 0 is not going to happen in June now.  We might be able to do an Alpha then but that will only go out to a very tiny number of people (maybe 100 tops).  I’m reserving 10 places and the rest will come from the pre-order pool as a lottery with points given to those who have GalCiv II + Sins + Demigod.  Beta 0 would likely be July at this point but I’ll know more at the end of the week."

I read that but he said he was going to make an announcement on the status of the beta.

Technically, he said that he would know more at the end of the week, not that he was going to tell us.

I'm kinda expecting it to be a surprise when the beta releases.  Like Frogboy poisting a journal saying "yeah... its up now, download it from impulse"

Oh well, I expected a delay, and I know I'm not going to get in, since I passed on Demigod, and don't have a ton of +1's.

I'm ok with the delay, given the reasons.

The public beta will be open to everyone who's pre-ordered. The invitation/lottery talk is about a *possible* limited alpha, maybe sometime in June.

Was referring to the private, got a feeling the public is going to be quite delayed though- to get things right.

Usually Stardock wants their public beta to be at the quality level of 1.00 games from other companies.

Eh? No they don't - their betas that are available are usually very focused and often barren. That's especially true of the first beta (not the potential, invite-only alpha), which is going to be the cloth map only.

From all Frogboy was saying in the journal entry, I'd expect the first beta in July now.

Maybe it's where I just remember the GC2 betas, not the other ones.

The home page still says public beta by June.

Honestly, Stardock could slap the alpha out and call it a beta, and satisfy the requirement.  Since it's only out to pre-orders, I don't think that would hurt anything.

Or: "For those of you, non-Stardock testers, that has been testing the alpha, you should know that next week we are going beta and..." Joking, of course. Frogboy wouldn't do such a thing.

Why such need of alpha/beta now? Surely they are still trying to get things right in the econ department after that Tarrasque-like thread... It'll start whenever they have what they want to test with us.

And no one should really care about the karma. What gives? A week maybe two of alpha if it happens? You should be happy that your opinion is important to Stardock no matter your karma. Just don't be a , specially with .

Oh god dont say that it will end up like Duke Nukem!

We'll know when it starts going up, because we'll get credit card charges, emails about credit card charges, and a 2000 page forum thread full of "I got mine!" and "where is mine!?"

We haven't had an update since Boogie's "we're on track for June" and Frogboy's "we're not going to see it in June". When July 1 rolls around, I'll start pestering for another update.

When they say it's time it'll be time.

I'm just happy they are keeping us in the loop. At least we know what is happening and what they are thinking. Internal debate now external is at 446 hits right now. I think people love this kind of thing.

I think the forum is the beta after all there are trolls and necromancers. As well as, this people are into using fire magic and you see the occation mod using a warhammer on people

I'm still waiting for the web based game "Forum: War of Trolls" to be released. It has been in beta forever...

I'm really curious to know about what you are talking Wintersong.   Is there any seriousness in that statement?   I would love a game like that  (I'd want to make it a platformer, where you got stronger by eating other trolls.  You'd run around bizzar technology related landscapes as you transverse the internet super highway)

Even if they were still targeting June, the end of June is just as much June as the begining. So they would still have 4+ weeks to get it to us.
