I played against my first cheater yesterday....

I played against my first cheater yesterday....

it was actually 2 of them.... ROOK with 8500 health at level 9 and a UB with around 7000 .... rook was one/two shotting with his hammer for 1500-3000+ dmg (after a rock stun)

Full citidel upgrades too....

I guess the thing that worries me is when people stop being so obvious about it.... I play demigod 2-4 games a day, but after this game i decided to play street fighter 4 instead =(

Will this ever be fixed?

-------------

UPDATE:

i watched the replay, the game was 3v3 map cataract

The 2 players in question were named KyKy (rook) and Bronnieman (ub)

Unfortunately the replay dies early and shows no player stats.

You cant proof anything so now Stardock has to provide tools?

What tools do you need when people already posted plenty of possible scenario's you might have run into, did you actually read any of the proper responses to your wild claim of cheating?

Time for you to have a better look at the game and properly check your facts before posting again...

 working replay system, yes plz.

This works completely different to Company of Heroes. If you modify the exe or lua on this side, firstly, well, the game crashes like a bitch. Trust me, you can't just open up the game files. Even allowing them to be changed, without making any changes, will get you rejected from the lobby. Secondly, when you send to the other guy what you can see, he will realize that it doesn't match what he knows you can see, and the game will instantly desync.

The game gets a lot of shit for the amount of bandwidth it uses, but that quantity contains a lot of sync information that protects you from cheaters in an extremely strong way. As soon as everyone in the game doesn't agree on the exact quantity of gold, health, mana, any of those things that you have, the game desyncs and is over. The entire engine is built around the concept that what's happening (the sim) matches exactly. You can never hack the game, like in D2 where you could just enter a quantity of money to have and bang, you had it. If you did that, the game would be over.

It's not like, CS:S, where when you fire a shot, what the other guy sees is actually just a randomized bullet and everyone sees a different randomized bullet, and the server sends the damage down later.

<snip>

Here is the math shown below:  [(6750 health from levels & items) + (460 health from "enchanced attributes")] * (1.15 from 15% health flag) = 8291.5 health

Reduced 84%Original 711 x 467

<snip>

so.... have you played 35 games or hundreds?

i already answered this... most games i've played haven't completed.  The game i have a replay of doesnt even show on the website providing this information.

First, thanks to www.demigoddb.com for the tools I used to show how this is mathematically feasible.

Second, I think we all know that a good portion of the games don't show in the stats, but this is going to be true for your opponents as well, not just you.  Odds are likely that the % of games missing are comparable between your stats and theirs.  So *probably*, BOTH of those opponents have twice the competitive demigod experience that you do.  (unless for some reason your stat tracking is broken, but theirs is working swell!?)

And third, you mentioned the "armor modified health" shown in my screen shot.  I did not factor that into the equation I showed when explaining how he could hit 8.3k (without using the consumable that gives +50% health for 20 seconds)...

Basically, it's mathematically possible, even likely.  So you simply need to bring more evidence when you bring accusations of cheating to the table.  That is all.

What happened is the OP sucks at DG and attributed his failing to an external source.

Not to spoil the fun of this thread but the numbers are exaggerated and a hammer slam, foul grasp/ooze combo is hard to deal with.

There is an item that gives you double your health for 30 seconds?

only 500 g at the item shop, maybe better then a potion if in trouble

Couple of things jump out at me.

1. OP didn't know about gameplays.org, then the edit said his replay died early. (To go back more than the last played game isn't happening.) If playing multiple games a day, somehow I have trouble beliving that this game was your final one...

2. Most games he rage quits. ( Said it himself.)

3. How can he tell if the other team had full citadel upgrades?

I agree that you sound like someone who got beat...badly... and is trying to find some excuse as to why. The answer is simple.... You need to become a better player, and appologize.

Did you check the game settings before the match? Perhaps gold and xp income was set to high?

How I know this is that the devs told us this, and I've seen this with my own eyes. It helps to have played the previous games on the engine. Infact, in Supreme Commander, a timing issue in the sound engine(not the one used for Demigod) could cause a sound to be played a tenth of a second later, and that would desync the game. That's not even sim relevant information, and it desynced the game. Moreover, try it yourself.

1. Extract dgdata.zip to /dgdata

2. Rename dgdata.zip to dgdata1.zip

3. Rename /dgdata dgdata.zip

4. Go into the units and change some values in the .bp files.

5. Try playing online.

6. Watch and learn.

That is, if you can even get into the lobby. In order to get into the lobby even, you have to play with a friend who also followed these steps (not number 4 though, that defies the point). Then, the fact that you say Rook's Hammer Slam does 1,000,000,000 damage and he thinks it does 450 damage will instantly desync the game. The same will occur if you change your health, gold, any of those things. Anybody who knows or mods Supreme Commander will back me up on this.

What devs say and what hackers do are two completely different things.

This so much reminds me to the counter-strike days of old.

3 head shots in a row, and the whole server was crying cheater. Not one of them stopped to think about how ridiculous they sound. Sure .. CS had lots of cheaters as well, but the big majorty of these 'cheating' cases were simple people being owned by more skilled players.

The comment of the OP about how he has this many games under his belt and how he rarely lost any games tells me, that this might indeed be an ego problem, rather than a cheater problem.

Also, considering the P2P nature of the game, desync was my first thought after reading the story. Any modification that only happens on one of the clients should - in theory - desync the game. Hard to miss, considering the incredibly stupid modal dialog they used to warn the user about it.
