While every one is paying attention to the aftermath of the Presidential Election, and Bush's cabinet chages, no one knows that one thing is still up for grabs. That would be from reading the title, the Govenership of the State of Washington. Because of a law there people are allowed to mail in their ballots. This makes every so slow, like in Oregon in 2008. Oregon was awarded to Gore several weeks after. Anyway, Washington has another law as well, if the lead is under 2,000 votes, there is a mandatory re-count. As of this afternoon (EST) the lead was about 136 in favor of the Republican candidate. Early this moring it was only 16 votes! Washington, where Kerry wonm wth 53% of the vote, has not voted for a Republican Govener since 1980.
The Republican candidate is a state senator and the Democratic candidate is the state Attorney General.
