Fences with Right to Left Language

Hi,

I'm using Fences with Windows XP, SP2, that uses Hebrew as the main language. Hebrew is a right to left language, so Start is on the bottom right instead of left. The Fences are aligned to right (which is not a problem), but if on the layout Quick Links is on the far left, on the desktop it's on the far right. The main problem is that when Fences is active, the wallpaper is converted left to right, like a mirror, and when I drag windows over the wallpaper you can see for a second the original image, with the right direction which makes everything even more confusing.

I'm attaching snapshots so you'll see what I mean:

That's the original wallpaper:

That's the desktop with fences (wallpaper is covetrted):

And this is what happnes when I drag a window over the desktop:

Does anyone know how to fix it?

Thanks in advance!

Interesting problem. Interesting because the concept of what constitutes an eye pleasing artwork also is generally reversed in people whose primary visual orientation is right-to-left...i.e. primary Semitic and Asian language speakers. This is due to the eye being more "comfortable" moving left to right in English speakers and the opposite in the other group.

From your question, you are probably a native (mother tongue) English speaker, and learned Hebrew later.

To answer your question, try flipping your picture (the .jpeg file) right to left in a program like photoshop. Store it that way, replacing the other (or, renaming it if you wish to keep both).

Then, choose it as your wallpaper (right click and 'set as desktop background')....should fix things for your eye. :sun:  (Shemesh Israeli!)

Thanks for your reply.

As a matter of fact, I'm a native Hebrew speaker and learned English later - so that's nice to know I write well enough so you think the contrary.. ;)

Anyway, flipping the picture is a good idea but what matters most is the dragging of the windows that causes the original picture to show up. Very annoying! Do you think there's any way to fix it?

Tain lachshov rayga.....could this be a RAM problem? Also...are you configured for 'lishmor al RAM, yesh li me'at' or as 'yesh li harbeh RAM v'lo ichpat li'? Do you have RAM hungry stuff running?

Sorry for the Heblish (Engbrew?)...my laptop is English only keyboard.

I don't think it's a RAM problem. It happens when I run no other program too, and I have 1GB, DDR2.

Where can you change לשמור על RAM, יש לי מעט? I didn't see it anywhere on the settings.

Chekc out this virtual keyborad - might help you with the Hebrew http://www.gate2home.com/?language=he :)

Thanks!
