Subverters vs guardians

repulsion/illuminator spam is returning in a worse way than ever. in 1.05 guardians and illuminators here horribly over powered. so illums where nerfed (not by much) the only viable counter to illum spam came when carriers where beefed up. but now with flaks being beefed up carriers are once again obsolete and illum spam is back.

why its so much worse now is the only real counter to illum spam coupled with repulse in 1.05 was the dreaded Subverter ability "distortion field" but in 1.1 they nerfed the subverters so badly they hardly carrier their weight anymore. they die far to easily, cant use DF often and the ability is far to short live in duration. while distortion field was crippled with nerf, repulsion is still as broken as ever and in essence un-counterable.

not to say there isnt any counters to the this tactic, any skilled player know thats not true. just to say this tactic is so cheap and easy, in the hands of skilled players it is extremely powerful. even the most skilled players will need a massive economical advantage to overcome this fleet and there is rarely time to build such an econamy because this fleet can so quickly be assembled and employed.

bottom line, NERF REPULSION!!!!!! illuminators could still use a hell of a nerfing as well, because they are more than enough to handle heavy cruisers which is just wrong. i refuse to play as any race but advent once again because the mothership colonize ability discounts provides advent with the fastest econamy, and their fleets are horrendously more powerful than any other races.

Well after a week of undurign the lum and gardian spam again for the 2nd time in this game history I am once again hanging up my Sins uniform. Will be back when it gets fixed once more.

Well I did it once before and I will do it again. What's that? IT stopinf playign sins. Game is once again uni racial liek in 1.04 and until it gets refixed cya all later. But I'll still be on the forums.

Don't let this thread scare you away from discovering the fun and the challenge of online multiplayer.  As you take your noobie lumps, gain experience, and improve your game, you'll become a better and better player and you'll learn how to deal with all of this.  This game is still a whole lot of fun but you have to want to improve and enjoy the process of becoming better, which is one of the long-term attractions of the game.  You take pleasure in your improvement and its always challenging.

Ok here are my thoughts on the balance issues. First off when carriers could build sc fast it was lame. You couldnt field bombers at all because fighters were built instantly. One of the problems with lrf is that they are good against most things. That is what makes one thing so op. If ships damage multipliers were less harsh and gave advantages at 25% instead of 50% maybe things wouldnt be so bad. However I realize this would take away ships unique qualities. Maybe a different approach like reducing the damage flak dish out against fighters a bit and increasing thier damage vs lrf(or reducing the damage lrf to flak). Against lrf early the only counters seem to be equal numbers of lrf,carriers,or flak.The other option would be to add more sc squads to carriers. They would still be countered easily but have more damage dealing abilities for these spams. It wouldnt mess up balance to much since they would still be useless once they run out of am and their am would run out faster.

As far as the op I agree with grey. Repulse is a battle of range and the other 2 races out range advent so I dont see what the problem is.Repulse is really only good against hc.

MindsEye your gettign way off course.

The balance was almost perfect before and they were just 2 problems.

Flak was to inefective againts strike-craft that it wasnt very reliable. And flak has gotten that boot via a range increase and the all banks firering.

The second was that people only built fighters because if you had enought of them you could take out anything. To fix this it should have been only as simple as to lower the % of dmg the fighters do againt not appropriate targets. While leaving it as it is againt apropriate targets.

But what they did wrong was nerf the carriers them selves. I did some calculation and a 75% build penalty is equal to rought 50% of a carrier prebuff. Remember when carrier only had 1 SC for TEC and Vasary and 2 for Advent? Well current carrier are only woth 50% of those in current version.

And it'S the fact that carriers are useless that generates the LRF spam. Why because if the carriers are useless their is simple NO counter to LRFs other then more LRFs.

BEfore the carrier nerf the game was almost perfectly balanced. Even if someone spamed carriers you could still wipe the floor with his NOOBASS so it wasn't a problem. IT could be dealth with intelegently and by using apropriate counters. In that time i would be seing almost every type of ship beign used by skilled players depending on the situation and strategy used.

NOW IT'S LRFs.

Peoblem is easy to see since the game when from near perfect to the worst it has ever been. 1.04 was the worst this game has ever been and 1.3 entrenchment toke us right back to it on a FREIGHT TRAIN.
