battle damage repairs

In Sins when a ship is badly damaged, over time it is automatically repaired but in Sword of the stars when a human ship is damaged they don't seem to have this ability, being new to that game (and spoiled on Sins) I was wondering how to repair my ships before they are destroyed because if the node ring is badly damaged then I am screwed?

Sword of the stars is a good game and I really enjoy the battles:grin:

There is a tech called Repair and Salvage that allows you access to repair ships I think it's under Industrial research, additionaly as I recall they are cruiser only mid-sections.
