SoaSE Entrenchment repeatedly Crashing

2 hours ago i reinstalled SoaSE and then purchased and installed entrenchment, everything is updated, the only mod im running is the latest version of bailknights graphics mod for entrenchment, and it seems as soon as a ship is produced the game crashes.  Now the only other thing i have done is tried to mod some ship files so i went to the gameinfo folder in entrenchment and tried to open up a entity file in notepad, so now all entity files are notepad... i dont remember these files being in code so whatever... is that the reason why my game is crashing or is it some other unforseen conflict? i appreciate any help.

do try a fresh install with no mods and be wary of opening up the entity files, they are a bit more unstable unless you have the proper files

In my experience, if you set an abnormal file type to be opened by a basic program, like notepad, your computer will continue to do this to all files of that type, and may prevent other progams from accessing them. I mod Star Wars: Empire At War and did this to some of the gamefiles and my game bleached, rather than crashed. Your only likely option, and it probably isn't worth the time or loss, is to run the "factory default restore" or whatever disc that came with your system. This will wipe out everything on your system and bring it back to exactly where it was when you bought it, so the modded/notepad files will be as they once were. You should find atleast two other options before you do this, as you may lose erretrievable data and possibly invalidate your warranty. Hope this helped

a less destructive method is to go into the folder options, then into the file types tab then look through the listin the popup window, then close the folder options window and check your gameinfo folder to see what type of file they are now.

hope this helps
