Constantly nagged about "New update"

After updating

I downloaded and installed "My Colors" (the AMD theme) from:
https://www.stardock.com/products/mycolors/

When I start the program it tells me an update is availible, so I update the program and reboot. After rebooting I load Impulse to play a game, and I am again told that there is an update availible for MyColors, but this time it was to update through Impulse rather than the program itself. If I update in Impulse and then reboot, Impulse shows me up to date, but then MyColors starts prompting me again.

These two programs seem to be confused about which one has access to the newest update.

We will post a new version of MyColors on Monday that resolves this issue.  Sorry for any inconvenience this has caused.

Thanks for the info.

Kind of a stupid but obvious question: Would I want to bring down that MyColors update through Impulse or MyColors, or does it matter?

I don't know why I wasn't told about that by SD support. I uninstalled all my SD software and reinstalled....tried endless updates and could have been spared that.

Now, how about WindowBlinds and/or MyColors and/or Theme Manager actually being able to apply the Vista Aero desktop and not Windows Classic?

Doc I think Zargon has been rather great at working this problem on a weekend. As for this question you have; I seem confused about what or which program you are speaking of.

The most for having the problem is installing other than with Impulse to start with. I do see your point at uninstalling and reinstalling to figure whats going on. But maybe if you knew better next time contact support during the week or hey I'm always around with answers too. Drop me a line if I can help. Be glad to figure the thing out with you.

But we got to give those guys at support our support to work with them as good as they will work with us. I figure a lot of them do have some sort of life other than being a support person for Stardock. Thus they do need their time too.

Back at you on this quote for your problem again... drop me a line and let me know whats up? Kind of guessing for what you really mean right at the moment.

Shelby...I've communicated with SD for quite some time about this problem. My comment was to Zargon, and it wasn't about what he was saying, but rather about the instructions I'd received before from SD support.

I personally think Support works hard, but that isn't the issue either. None of this is personal: It has to do with the software and it has to do with not getting an answer about what's wrong, and also it has to do with publishing known bugs.

There are several, and it would really help for SD to publish these bugs and an algorithmic trouble shooter guide so as not to waste a great deal of time and to lessen the load on Support and get to the answer in a more timely and efficient manner because they'll have data to pinpoint the problem area. This just makes sense. It also makes sense that at a certain point, Support gives you a call to expedite solving the problem.

The issue is simple:

If MyColors and WB share files, and if they both update and verify thru Impulse, then the updates (and installing correctly) should carry thru to MC and WB apps outside of Impulse.

One only has 1 Impulse, 1 WB and 1 MC. So why are there apps listed in Impulse that update thru Impulse (all SD's apps) and yet, after updating and rebooting one still gets the update notice from the app outside Impulse when started from the Impulse Dock?

Turns out that Impulse has problems. Not my computer. MC has problems and I'll wager WB has problems and they all have one common Nexus: Impulse, and an additional Nexus: MC and WB sharing files.

At this point I think my solution is seeing if this update of MC fixes things. If not, I'm considering unistalling it and living w/o it

ONLY if I can get to my original Aero desktop w/o unloading WB through task manager. This is another bug: Why do I have to go to msconfig to get WB not to load @ boot? Why can't I do that directly from WB...I think that option should be present in the WB config window.

In addition, it's really unclear to me why if I try to apply the original Aero desktop through MC, I get "Windows Classic" and if I try to do the same through WB, WB crashes. Sorry. I don't think the prob is my computer. I think it's in the software.

Setting WB to use a default windows skin is it's do not run at start

Unfortunately, trying to do that crashes WB.

I've been working a similar problem with support. When I verify MyColors and Windowblinds 6 in Impulse one of them will report as installed incorrectly (needing an update) and the other will report as installed correctly. After I apply the update and reverify, their status swaps. I install the update for the other program and reverify and their status swaps back. This repeats forever. Support finally said that MyColors and WB seemed to swapping some registry key back and forth which confuses the other program and I should ignore it. It's irrating though as when I tried to install Quest, Impulse required me to update MyColors (so it appeared to be installed correctly) before I could install Quest (which didn't work btw, but that's a new issue I have to open with SD.

Hopefully this will get fixed soon.

I believe there was an update to MyColors posted to Impulse earlier this week which fixed this.  I installed that update via Impulse, then checked for an update on MyColors and it reported none available.  I had been having the same issue.

Well, the updates have fixed my stuff as far as I can see...Thanx, SD for the fixes!
