A Guide for General Military Strategy

A Guide for General Military Strategy

This guide is for those who are having trouble dealing with any kind of military difficulty.  Even experienced players may learn a thing or two.  So pay attention.

1.  Focus your fire.  Don't just let your ships attack on their own.  If each ship targets one enemy at a time, that target goes down quicker, and that's the less damage your ships take.  Remember, you don't want to create a huge fleet and find it was good for only one battle.

2.  Don't spam seeker vessels or any ship of that equivalent.  Your just wasting resources when you could send just one to see what your foe is made of.  Remember, seeker vessels are not meant for battle.

3.  The best way to deal with enemy spamming is to spam as well.  Remember, each ship has some sort of weakness.  Javelis frigates are equally matched, and can also take down battleships from a distance.  However, you might want to attack first.

4.  Make sure your fleet is versatile.  If you have a fleet made only of assault ships, they'll be picked off by bomber squadrons and Javelis frigates.  If your fleet is made only of Javelis frigates, you will have no protection from bomber squadrons.

5.  Civilian research can also help in battle.  I'm pretty sure no one would like to travel from planet 1 to planet 74 one at a time when there's a nice, fast wormhole system that can take you to planet 74 within seconds.  That wormhole research can make the difference between utter destruction because of slow response time and swift victory with the element of surprise.

I hope this guide was of assistance.  May you fight harder and be victorious.

You civic tech talks about a tech (wormhole) that is high level. It doesn't mention anything lower that is useful such as resource upgrades, planet pop upgrades etc... which can give you higher incomes and therefore a better economy long term (you need to survive enough for it to pay itself back before you get much bonus...)

I guess that's true...  Dang it!  Why is nobody COMPLIMENTING this guide!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You know what, why don't I just DELETE this stupid guide!!!!  It's apparently of no use to anybody!!!!!!!  So, how do I delete it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

Because some of the stuff in it is wrong, so we are correcting it rather then telling you it is the best one we have ever seen!!!

However, I like the abundant use of exlamation marks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

6.  If you're losing, do something that looks stupid on paper.  Who knows, you might discover a new tactic.

To dbrainstorm: I have sort of experienced the same thing..., I've made a couple of posts, just asking a simple question (I'm not quite daring enough to try to help others yet), and every single time I've gotten shut down. People say that my question is obsolete since I didn't take something into account, except a tad more politely. Not that I'm frusterated at the people, but, sigh...

I don't mean to sound like a moderator or anything, but I hope it helps.O:)

There is a difference between asking a question and telling someone how to play when the person in question doesn't understand the game mechanics. I often try to answer people's questions and have any number of posts regarding issues with patching/port forwarding etc...

I even answer dbrainstorm's question about where the CD key was in another thread of his.

I have gone VERY hard on people who put up game suggestions that I disagree with, but that is completely different.

One of the reasons I was so hard on the OP is his tone - he was arogant to the point of telling people that were correcting him on something that they were wrong when they were in fact right. In one case in response to this

To some extent, yes.  They are good long-range ships.  However, their weapons are only meant for anti-bomber tactics.

Um no fighters are bood against bombers and LRF. The devs developed them so. Check out this forum it explains the idea of armor and damage.

This thread fails

Perhaps to make this thread not fail, OP could re-edit the original post in light of discussion in the thread.

So change dont spam scouts into, spam scouts to counter early (small) LRM spam for instance.

Dude, seriously, okay, I admit, I screwed up this faq.  I'm going to try again, and see if the next one works.

I've basically condemned this post anyway.  If you'll stop criticizing this post for sheer entertainment, you can read my new faq (trust me, it lives up to its name).

Try to use cricism to improve this thread instead of giving up as soon as there are flaws spotted by others...geez, did you rip up your exams as well, if the teacher corrected something, calling him a smartass and quitting school to try something else? :|

Noone reads and comments this post for entertainment, but rather to shape it up and make it better than it is at the moment...
