Where Oh Where Did My Aero Go?

Big reward for the finder

A couple of weeks ago I wanted to take a look at Aero (original Vista desktop) just for old times sake.

Oddly, I couldn't get it to come back....despite clicking on it in WB6 and in MyColors. I wrote to SD Support....tried many different things, but no go.

So, yesterday I removed all my SD apps (ODNT Ultimate) with CCleaner and the ODNT zapper.

The Vista Aero desktop returned. I then reinstalled Impulse, and my SD apps and tried to apply Aero, but again all I got was Windows Classic. So, I installed MyColors thinking I would be able to apply it through MyColors.

No go. No firewall/AV going during the reinstallations.

Does anyone have a clue how to fix this? MyColors shows Aero is there, and so does WB6.

Open Task manager and close the 2 Vista/ Wb programs running. Then apply Aero via dispaly properties. I think it is WBVista.exe and WbVista something else. Not running Wb so I am going by memory. :)

Had only WBVista.exe running, but denied me access even though I'm the Administrator.

OK...solved that. Right clicked on WBVista and terminated as Administrator.

Vista aero is back. Now the question that needs answering is why that can't be achieved via WB or MyColors?

Anyone from SD Support around?

Additional question: How does make WindowBlinds not start automatically on bootup?

Thanks, NT!

Uninstall it. :-" ;)

I'm right there with ya, DrJBHL. Same thing for me. I always have to apply through properties.

Also, I've had Vista since day 1 and have never seen the animations....downloads, move, empty trash, etc... All I've ever seen is the classic download animation.

Yeah....I'm thinking WB6.x should have the option to start on bootup or not, or the ability to apply The Aero desktop just like any other skin.

Doc, you know I was ribbin ya, right?

It may be your install of windows, I'm able to choose Aero in WindowBlinds without a problem.

I do agree about being able to tell it not to boot. Even when I run Aero, after I reboot WindowBlinds still runs even thou there's not a need for it to.

Run > msconfig.   Uncheck it in services tab.
