From the DeskScapes info page:

Windows XP (32 bit only), Windows Vista
Minimum screen resolution: 1024 width and 768 height
Please read this about video codec requirements
Video Card requirements click here.
Impulse must be installed in order to download and update software.

So it looks like no,but you can uninstall Impulse after downloading and activating DeskScapes. It's not needed to use your software. You just won't be able to get any updates. Impulse only takes up 19.6 Mbs drive space and around 11,000kbs of ram and only runs when you want it to,so really,it's ok to keep it and just launch it ever so often to check for updates. That is entirely up to the user.

Well Impulse is just the means or the tool to use to digitally download the software or programs you purchase from Stardock.  It seems that a lot of people believe it to be a bad or maleware.

Your guestion probably should had been directed to Stardock Support part of the forum.  I am not sure that there is a way to download it without Impulse.

I tried to run Deskscapes on an XP Home SP3 system with 2 gb of memory and it didn't work.  I only had a P4 chip and a lower end AGP card though.  Depending on what you are running you may have better luck.

Okay, so I have no other choice to install Impulse *uff*

Wich version of Impulse do you recommend? (without installing IE7/IE8!! )

I know by reading the forum that there are two versions of Impulse existing - the full version ans the version from anywhere *confused*

I think, it doesnt work for you, because you AGP (!) card is a bit TO low end ;) (maybe that answer your question why it doesnt work for you)

I have an ATI 4850 Golden sample (512MB) and it works great.

I have only used the full installer, which has worked great for me.I've used Impulse since early beta and have no problems with it at all. It keeps all my ODNT Ultimate software up to date and the IRC function is great if you have questions or just want to B.S. for awhile. Enjoy your software.

okay,

I have install deskscape with Impulse (full) and after that i have uninstall Impulse.

Now, when i start a dream from wincstomize it is not on the background, but in a window-mode.

sometimes the dreams doesnt start and the desktop goes black and no icons are there.

to get the icons back i need to end the explorer.exe task and start it agan to see the icons.

so, how can i fix that?

How are you starting the dreams?

If you are using the Display Properties > Deskscapes tab, I have found that in XP I some times need to apply the dream twice to get it to work.
