1.  Black and White 2.  Black and White 1 was so great, I have never fell in love with a game that had yet to reach its potential.  What did they do to the second version?   Completely ruin anything going for it.  So much potential in the first verstion though.

2.  Spore-  they hype up games like this?  guess it is the only way to make money on the piece of #$@!.  

3.  Simcity franchise after Sim city 2-  Sim city 1 and 2 were soooooo much fun.  Hell, back in juinoir high, for a week, one of the class projects was to create the best city.  After the second installment, they dulled the game down to smaller parcels to work with and no longer have this fine super city all on one good screen.  

I think I have a problem with windows in Age of Empires III, I try to update and it says "file location error, you need administrator rights." Ok, but I am the only user on my computer and I am the Administrator. Microsoft fail.

Funny I did not like the first 2, I liked the 3 & 4. I was in a Future City Competition in Idaho, we had to use to SimCity 3000, it was the most retarded competition ever. My team should of goten at least third place. Practicly everyone elses was all fantasy and artistic crap. So everyone who got in the top 8 were so beyond realistic not even like Star Trek or Star Wars future building development. So basicly the whole competition was graded on artisic abiltiy even though ours was real nice and pretty dain realistic. We filed a major complaint on how misshandled it was. The judges were actual city engineers. I laugh at those idiots righ now.

You could pay good money for some good games like (and in order of my favs):

Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - 3D D&D Fantisy RPG; very intense on your graphics card; graphics rating 1-10: 7.5

Fallout3 - 3D Post-Neuclear Apocoliptic RPG; extremely intense on your graphics card; graphics rating 1-10: 8.5

Assisian's Creed:  3D Historic RPG (you're an Isralie Assisian during the Holy Crusades; very fun!) Graphics 1-10: 7.0 (Animations however are a solid 10!)

FarCry2 - 3D First Person Shooter; VERY REALISTIC and not for children! Must have the best graphics card to even run this game: graphics rating 1-10:  10

Call of Duty:  3D Realistic First Person Shooter.  Graphics 1-10: 8.0

Black and White 2: Battle of the Gods:  3D Real-Time Stratigy game - You are a god, nuff said;  Graphics 1-10: 8.5

These games are all very unique games, some are better than others, and they're at the top and for good reason...

Elder Scrolls is a part of a series that has a long story line to it that will keep you immersed for years. Oblivion was Bethesda's (producers of Oblivion) first project that included HDR shading technologies.  This game is very easily moddable to add anything from custom weapons, content, and QUESTS.  This game is endless and has a very supportive community at www.tesnexus.com

Fallout takes the number 2 slot because it is very close game-wise and graphic wise to Oblivion.  In fact it is the same graphics engine and same company, Bethesda.  Because of that, this game too is very easily modable and is also supported by a great community at www.fallout3nexus.com

Assisian's Creed makes up in animation and sheer detail, what it lacks in texture quality, in fact this is the only game where I have ever seen a cloud pass between you and the sun and watch the sky get darker or even see the cloud's shadow approach just before it goes darker.  This is also the only game I've seen with truly unique climbing, fighting, blocking, and walking animations.  Ubisoft created this game, and like anything expected from Ubisoft, it is one mavelous game!

I have to second ZehDon.  While I know not everyone loves Oblivion, everything I've heard about Morrowind has been overwhelmingly positive.  What was your beef with it? 

You could always go with something like Lady Darkblood or Mistress Raven.  (Okay yeah, that's probably too over-the-top, but they sound cool.  )

If you find the graphics in Fallout better then in Oblivion, something is wrong with your graphics card imo

I agree completely....what a total letdown SB2 tournament was.  Especially since like you, I had such wonderful memories of SB on the Amiga 500....sigh!

1.  Speed Ball 2 Tournament  -  as stated above, released unfinished.....and never patched.

2.  ALL Rainbow Six games after Raven Shield  -  the first two (Rainbow Six and Rogue Spear) were the best in the series IMO, downhill after that...

3  HAWX  (yes I'm aware it wasn't supposed to be a SIMULATOR....I still play Falcon 4.0 for my SIM-fix! :P)  -  another blatantly unfinished game.  Hell the MP COOP (the reason I actually bought the game) didn't work upon release and as far as I know, still doesn't.

Monk's hit list:

1.  Men of War  -  best RTS evah!  (completely interactive environment, each unit has it's own inventory and each unit can be directly controlled if desired)  Blows the Company of Heroes series solidly out of the water!

2.  Red Orchestra  -  the WW2 FPS the Call of Duty series should have aspired to.

3.  Demigod  -  not my genre (fantasy) by any means, but one hell of an addictive fast-paced experience.

I had a similar problem "getting into" Morrowind, it wasn't due to a bad computer either. For me it's been that I haven't been able to get into RPGs latley, I guess my tastes are changing. I tried to fire up some old classics for kicks and found that I simply couldn't even sit through the long ass intros =(

Ice's Shit List

1) Spore.  I've been hyped up for this game since Will Wright began showing it off at various events years before the release.  I didn't expect it to be nearly what the hype was, but wow, I wasn't expecting it to be THAT bad.  BetterSpore, as a mod, almost makes it playable though.  But there are no words for the level of dissapointment I had with the game.  It has colored my purchasing of every single since.

2) Red Alert 3/Command and Conquer 3: TibWars.  These games tie.  EA has totally ripped the heart, soul, and body out of a franchise.  I just cannot play these new titles.  The best thing I have ever done is pick up The First Decade that has all the old C&C games, and I'll still play those, but the new ones are just missing the right feeling.

3) Empire: Total War.  It may get off the list sometime, but as of now they still haven't delivered on content they promised, especially (and the main reason I bought this game!) the multiplayer campaigns!  Also, where are the historical battles every other Total War has had?  EtW has three, two of which are naval battles!  You got all the land historical battle content in the DEMO.

Ice's Hit List

1) Flat Out: Ultimate Carnage.  I like to crash cars into other cars.  This game cost me ten bucks on steam, and I've clocked an absurd ammount of time into it with my friends online.  Stellar buy for the cost.

2) Killing Floor.  This game is what left4dead should've been.  It is, without a doubt, one of the best zombie-survival co-op games I have ever played and it blows l4d completly out of the water.  Also, the SDK was released when the game was released retail, not months later...  I also picked it up for 20 bucks on Steam, not 50 like L4D.

3) Galactic Civilizations 2!  How would this game not meet a strategic-minded gamer's hit list?  It's a close tie with Civ 4 but I mainly like that for the Fall From Heaven mod and not civ4 itself, so GalCiv2 wins.  Along with Civ4 they're the only games in recent memory where I feel like I have gotten my money's worth for not only the original game, but each released expansion!  That's a rare thing these days.

I like C&C 3 when I first got it.  It wasn't great but it lasted about two weeks.

What I regret was King's Bounty the Legend.  I played like two days and got really bored.

We should all be so lucky as to only ever have played good games. Except CoD4, which imho is much like a wad of crap placed on a stick, dipped in chocolate, and roasted over a fire. Dressed up, but still terrible.

What's wrong with Age III?  I actually reinstalled on Windows 7 RC1 since I enjoyed it but other games came along and it lost it's hard drive lease.

What the hell are you talking about?!!? That was my first multiplayer FPS ever and I love it.  World at War is worse than cod4, but I blame it on a different developer.  If you call this crap, please enlighten me what isn't (and don't say Halo)?

I actually spent more time on CoD4 than most other FPS. Don't have World at War, worn out on WW2 shooters. My biggest problem is that now they aren't really pushing forward very much. You're mainly playing the same games with different weapons. CoD4 was unique because it was the first with such a robust class and unlock system, but now it's just thrown into every game with few changes.

1. Battlefield 2 Booster Pack featuring armored fury and euro force: Thing didnt work properly and the way I had to install it truly

2. MOO3: Biggest debauchery known to the video game world. MOO2 is still one of my favourite games.

3. Star Trek Borg: Game didnt even work on my system and many other peoples' pcs. Finally played it at a friend's house and it was a POS

You people are gonna blast me but, obviously not nearly bad enough to be on this list but honourable mentions for me go to Galactic Civilizations 2. Bought this game having read amazing things about it and with a large community to support it. Found it quirky and just had no chemistry for me at all. Didnt feel like a great TBS game compared to Civ4, MOO2 and Civ3. I still play it every now and then hoping to find a new angle and get hooked.

Let's see, there are quite a few games that I regret buying:

1: Alien shooter (and improvement), Alien shooter 2 (and improvement), zombie shooter:

I mean, what the hell are those games? I bought them all in one pack. 

Many hours of game play with 10 missions and a survival mode Yea right, I played through 5 missions in one hour before getting bored. Tried survival mode, it basically takes all the good things from the campaign, but still not enough to keep my interest for longer then 30 minutes

About 1,000 monsters on each map, showing up to 100 monsters simultaneously on one playing screen Yup, they're right. 100 monsters simultaneiously on screen, too bad they kept running against walls trying to reach me. They had the simplest AI ever, even for zombies :P

Arcade action combined with sophisticated RPG elements Arcade action: Yup. Sophisticated RPG elements? You find experience blocks in crates and sometimes, monsters drop them. If you level up, you get 1 point you can spend on either speed, strength, health or accuracy. Sophisticated? Nah, you could only upgrade a certain skill 4 or 5 times)

A variety of playable characters, each featuring unique abilities [b]Male and female, female is faster and more accurate. Male is stronger and healthier >.>

More than 50 types of weapons - now you can not just kill but also burn, freeze and even diminish the enemies About 10 weapons, each is upgradeable, most likely 5 times. Lol

Highly imaginative selection of zombies/aliens Alright, check some pictures. Everything looks like it's been ripped straight away from Resident Evil, Aliens and some other movies. Wtf

2: X3: Terran Conflict.

When I first loaded the game, there was no sound or anything. No one could help me with this problem. My computer was more then enough to play it, but somehow, customer support had no solution to the sound problem >.> I don't know, somehow, I felt incredibly sorry for buying this game, as I was really low on money (yeayea, it was irresponsible to buy games while low on money :P)

3: Virtual Families.

O...my...god...This game was aweful. It was basically a sims game, only the actions took a ridicilous amount of time to complete and it looked terrible. Seriously, I've played Virtual Villagers or whatever it was called, I didn't really like it, but it wasn't that bad either, but this...this...this...thing was. I don't mind cleaning up the garbage but does it have to take 5 minutes for the player as well? lol

Well, there are a lot more games that I regretted buying, but these 3 just really stood out.

1 Civilization 3: Just didn't enjoy it. Part of the problem was that the game really puninished my playstyle. I tend to prefer military domination, but the insanely high corruption penalties meant that my new territories were practically worthless. The combat was also terrible. I don't care if your musketman is on a hill, I have a freaking tank!

2 Eve Online: I can understand why some people enjoy it, but I really didn't have the time to make it worthwhile. I also didn't realize how important it was to join a corp immediately, and spent way to much time grinding boring missions.

3 Tiberian Sun: Regret might not be the right word, but it simply wasn't as good as the games before it.

I usually research my games before I buy them, and was always wary of Spore from the moment it was announced, so I don't have that many regrets.

One comment, I'm surprised how many people put X3:TC up. I only bought X3, but that launch was a disaster--which is why I waited until well afterwards to get the game. I'm a little surprised by how many people thought the quality of Terran Conflict would be significantly better upon release.
