SKS6 - couple of issues

I have transfered all of my files over to my vista system from xp and started working on a skin that was in progress. two things have cropped up and was just wondering...

1. the text on my UIS2 frames is missing, per pixel frame text is okay. the frame tops have different footprints and they show up on my xp system??? (blue oval)

2. When I "apply" this skin via SKS6 the frames return partially missing or black??? (red oval)

Per pixel frames override uis 2, uis 2 is made in bmp just for the preview in wb.

and remember to tick the checkboxes, try premulti alpha if it is used :)

and ofc the skin could have been corrupted.... im running xp again so i cant really help you by taking a look.. but im sure some vista skinner can help you.

I'm not sure about that. my uis2 images come into use with the windows that are open within windows (Paint shop pro image frames) while the program frames take from the per pixel, honest. haven't really looked to see if they are used elsewhere however the text was showing before I move the files over. frames in the blue oval are uis2 and that outside of the blue oval to the upper right is per pixel.

There are some applications that cannot use the per pixel frames, so they use the UIS2 frames instead.

I've had this kind of trouble before....I was making a blind on my XP and then moved it into my Vista...the issue was that the XP machine had an older version of SKS6 on it than the Vista machine, when I moved it over, it looked alot like what is happening to you.

...I ended up starting the blind over, because I never found a solution.:'(

Oh, darn, I really hate that when that happens.

It looks like you may have set the WB brightness slider to the lowest possible setting on your Vista machine.  Open WBConfig and click the reset button and reapply the skin.

To even try to comment on this or to fix this problem...

1. I need the skin in question.

2. Some better screenshots of exactly what and where you think the problem is in SKS6.

3. If it is text and working before - in what and where at was it set in the other application settings.

Trying to compare settings for sks6 and/or sks5 is ruff business. So would be the conversion of any file made with 5 to 6 for Vista. Seems as has been said in the past when you use sks 5 to build a skin for Vista and then edit the file with sks6. It cause's problems with structures being changed or even deleted. Thus stuff that would be present with 5 is no longer present with 6. That is why a lot of good skinners only use one application to do the job and not try to import from another. Not saying it is a bad idea...but without the knowledge of what is being left out or changed you are faced with new and much harder possiblities doing so.

The real trick is to add stuff without saving it directly with the applications. If you use 5 then you save with it. But if you add something with 6 you don't save it. That makes it really hard. But this also can be done in some given order.

Send me the skin and I'll see whats what. Also if you have both copies of it before you opened it with sks6 and such would be of great help.

Yeah sorry i was unclear, childwindows in some apps do get the uis2 frames.... but thats the only time if you have applied PP frames.

Cant you just re-save the slices you use and re-import them at the XP machine?.. and i think if you use SKS5 its time to move on ;)

I'm using SKS6 pro. the files are still on the xp computer so that shouldn't be a problem but I need to look at each image that is jointly used to ensure they still look okay.
