WindowBlinds isn't skinning??

I'm running WindowBlinds 6.4 (build 73 x86) on Windows XP MCE SP 2; whenver I go to apply the desired skin, taskbar and windows aren't applying the skin- even after a restart.  It's in the ugly plain 'default' Windows shell style (Not the XP style, btw). I should note that I reinstalled the OS & downloaded/installed any necessary updates and I've never run into this bug before; even after a reinstallation. X|

You should post your system info here...from the WB config tab.

Do you have Impulse? If you do, open it and right click on WB and click the check if WB installed correctly (Validate Installation). Then tell me the answer.

Impulse stated that WindowBlinds was installed incorrectly; please update the application. Said update was available so I proceeded to update it. Windows seem to be skinning normally; however the taskbar still isn't skinning properly- it still has the 'Windows Classic' appearance. This is annoying.

Is it consistent over all the skins, or just a single one?

This seems kinda old.

Try uninstalling WB. Use the stardock zapper

Then reinstall using Impulse.

Is your subscription up to date? If not, you might be experiencing incompatibility issues with your other software.

somtimes it depends on if you do a straight update or uninstall old/install new

somtimes it depends on whether you used SDC or Impulse

I just updated last night - had impulse autoarchive when updating and I'm showing:

Why would that make a difference? Shouldn't the latest file be the latest file available? I'm referring to method of update....

this seems odd to me. I thought Impulse is the platform. Why would you want to use another...especially if the files ren;t indeed the latest available?

I followed both of you guys' instructions; Everything is working as it should be and my desktop looks awesome again.  My thanks and appreciation to those who responded. (I am still fairly new here; I joined up to learn more about my growing interests in desktop design and customization) Fyi, this was my very first time using Impulse- I must say that I love the app, streamlines everything and keeps my software running very smoothly. Keep up the awesome work Stardock!!

P.s. here's what my sysinfo says currently:

ah, but method of update has variables...

were the files created for Impulse download or SDC download - which causes the slight difference in version number and from what I've notice slight difference in date/time

was the update done as a straigh update (which Neil posted a long time ago... only the files needing change get changed) or was an uninstall, reboot, install, reboot (in which case you would get all new files)

I'm guessing #11 involved uninstall, reboot, install, reboot

 These guys are good.  Glad you're squared away.

I am having the same problem as the OP. When I tried to run Impulse to check for updates, it said there is an update available and it wanted to download and install WB 6.3 -- I already have 6.4 installed!

Also note that WB is not loading at statup - I have to go to the start menu and click on WB and then say apply this skin for it to launch.

I just bought 6.4 outright - I was running Object Desktop with 5.something before, but since I changed ISP's Stardock didn't recognize me anymore. So the whole Impulse thing is totally new to me.

Can somebody please guide me through exactly what steps I ned to take to clean this mess up and get WB 6.4 running correctly?

I am running the latest ATI drivers @2560 x 1600 x 32b @ 60Hz.

I would suggest you open a ticket at sd support detailing your system info (see above posts) and your old email. Inform them of your new ISP and new email (if you have one).

I hope they can clear their backlog and get to you before the Holiday weekend. If they can't, you may have to wait until Tuesday.

Good luck!

have impulse archive your version first just in case

use impulse uninstall, reboot, install new via impulse, reboot

that should bring all the files up to current
