(1) I think both enemy and allied creeps can be converted into nightwalkers.

(2) Yes, it works only when Erebus is in the vicinity. Think of Erebus as a moving spirit ward. Creeps killed by nightwalkers when Erebus isn't around does not get converted.

Thanks, Sy. It appears that Oak has a relatively easier time getting minions, since he can put up multiple wards in multiple locations, whereas Erebus is limited to getting minions only in his vincinity.

On the other hand, Erebus has the ability to convert fallen creeps into nightwalkers right off the bat at no mana cost. I'd say he has it easier in that respect. Extra points into his conversion aura simply ups the chances of conversion.

Anyway, I've completed single player tournament (normal mode) with every single Demigod. Erebus ends up (no surprises here) as an eater of worlds etc.

I'm also keeping my fingers crossed that patch 1.01 will allow me to connect online to Demigod games.

I'm having a tough time trying to complete the Nightmare level tournament with Queen of Thorns at the moment. I can still barely handle Conquest and Slaughter, but Fortress and Domination is nearly impossible to win for me. The AI Demigods will eventually always be near 6 levels above me and completely push us back, destroying everything.

What were your strategies?

Played my first online game today and throughly enjoyed it

Have been playing single skirmish and tourney a couple of times and tried online today. Won my game, 2 v 2 using Regulus. It was a custom game with some guys from Aust.

Hope the connection probs start easing up for everyone soon.

Incidentally, I tried calling up Singnet (one of the main ISP providers in Singapore) about trying to get Demigod to work online. I explained to them that Demigod was a peer-to-peer online game, I had opened up ports and set a static IP for my computer, but I was still unable to connect.

This was the response I was given - "We can't really help with that. Maybe you can contact the company which produces the game or ask some friends who know about networking."

considering the cultural phenomenon that DOTA has become in Singapore, I am quite surprsed to have seen ZERO SG games since I first started playing online.  Quite disappointed really.  Where are all the singaporeans?? are they still playing DOTA so religeously they refuse to try something new??

I totally agree with that statement anyway. Did you see WC3 in Garena? Hundreds of thousands in there, worldwide. Shows how many freeloaders there are. (Garena allows you to play a hacked/pirated version of games without paying because Garena connects players through LAN).

Its sooooo cheap to see people downloading L4D and WC3 via Garena. But then again, I downloaded CS1.6 off Garena as well, but I'm not ashamed because I own CS:S and the servers on Steam is bullshit.

I, too, am wondering about the lack of Singaporean players online at any non-office hour time. My guess is that most of the DotA players in Singapore are young teenagers who will not/cannot afford to buy the original copy of Demigod. Pirated folks can't play through Impulse. Many of them are probably playing Demigod through Game Ranger.

Apart from the price, I tend to think that "word of mouth" might have something to do with Demigod's reception in Singapore. Connection issues for the game isn't exactly helping it.

Added : And I do find it ironic that individuals who used pirated copies of Demigod and play on Game Ranger are having a better experience than I am (when I can't connect online).

Hmm yeah hardly see any Singaporeans online. I did play with 2 guys who were on Singnet yesterday though. Im on starhub and have no probs connecting to Australians and the rest.

When I was hosting the game an Aussie guy came into the room but he couldnt connect to the 2 Singnet guys. I eventually tried launching the game 2 of them on 1 team and AI and I on the other. It somehow worked and played perfectly with no lag (ping was less than 60ms).

Strangely it seems that Starhub and Singnet might be able to play together but Singnet does not play well with others. If we can organise a time for us all to get online, maybe we can have a game between all Singaporeans.

I once saw a site with statistical data which indicated the Phillipines as having the most number of DotA players in this part of the world. However, if we compare the broadband penetration and number of families with PCs, Singapore might be ahead... I'm not sure.

The system requirements of Demigod is definitely a contributing factor, yes. Many young gamers who would have a sufficiently powerful PC to run Warcraft 3 (for DotA) might not have the resources to purchase one enough to run Demigod. That can change in the future, when the low end spectrum of PCs gets pushed up a few notches, as long as these same low end PC owners don't start following the console crowd.

In any case, I believe Demigod has longevity as long as the devs continue to support it in terms of fixes, improvements and new content. Hopefully, more Singaporean players will catch on and join the community!

Have you any luck with your connections even with the proxy servers now? I was able to "connect" to captainrubber (with whom I had terrible trouble with in the past) through a proxy server. Despite the 600 ping, we were able to get a game going with tolerable stutter.
