New Demigod Idea: Captain Krew

I think the idea of a Pirate-style Demigod is not only interesting and unique, it's also fantastically fitting for the trouble caused to the game during the first few days and I think a definitive must-have.

Captain Krew (Krew being Polish for Blood) would a humourous General Demigod rather than serious stylings of the others, and would be modelled more on LeChuck from The Curse of Monkey Island than the likes of Captain Jack Sparrow. He would be an Undead Pirate, who's main focus would be on his Minions - skeleton Pirates, of course - Stuns and Support rather than on heavy hitting.

History of Captain Krew

Captain Krew, the forgotten bastard child of the All-father, was cursed to an Undead existence as punishment for pillaging and plundering. Now, he lives his life doing what he does best: pillaging and plundering - aided now by Immortality! Almost perpetually intoxicated, Captain Krew has grown to rely heavily on the crew of his dreaded vessel 'The Walking German' in combat and is feared across the vast, blue oceans and also on several small islands.

Examples of Abilities
(add your own!)
Putrid Breath - The Captain's famously bad breath stuns his enemies for several seconds while dealing some small damage over time. Near-by enemies may also be effected!
Dawn's Crack - The Captain's ability to outrun his foes is legendary, this ability cracks open the ground allowing the Captain and all of his minions to escape to another, pre-selected location in a blinding flash of light, momentarily stunning his opponents.
Guns of the German - The Captain's vessel, The Walking German, fires down from the heavens dealing Damage to anyone - including the Captain - caught in it's radius.
Dead Man's Chest - The Captain lays down a magical chest. It's contents are random and collectable by anyone - health and mana, a new item or significant damage and even death lie within.

The Captain's minions would be where most of his DPS comes from, The Captain himself being unable to withstand heavy DPS and dealing significantly lower DPS than other Demigods. As such his minions would be automatically spawned - and cost no Mana. Upon killing one, another simply spawns in it's place. This would be significantly different from the play styles of the other Generals and I think a worthy addition.

Haha, ah well, it was just an idea.

no the idea is actually grand, i just think it would have to be a bit less cartoony, and a bit more grim, a pirate from Tabongo or something and has some voodoo abilities of some sort, we need a little more creativity here, but i like the way this is going so far.

How about chtulu pirate which sides atop of part ship part mechanical machine, where he's sitting at the top which looks sort of like the back deck of a ship, with a wheel and all.

Then inside of it you can sort of see slave skeletons that are turning wooden gears and moving cables that move the arms and legs of this wooden pirate ship looking walking machine?

And it has some awesome ornament on the "chest" of it.

And it moves really rickety, and has rows of cannons on its chest.

fffff gimme thousands of dollars, Stardock, this is GOLD.  Though might have to skip the skeletons inside because of polycounts and so hard to animate.  But people would get the idea of that with the appearance of it and the cables attached to the arms, legs, hips, that move it.

Good idea innociv, maybe we can make it the dark sides tank, since light side has rook.

The lore and style could be good, but i think you have to re-think the abilities completly.

good idea innociv, and maybe an artillery barrage ability too, i have a strange obcession with artillery.

Yes he'd have some ability to fire his cannons in one barrage and it's physics based, so the closer you are the more shells that'd hit thus the more damage that's done. Further away has more spread and they aoe on hit with the ground.

And another ability would summon a wave that moves forward and pushes away smaller units.  When those units are pushed into towers or enemy demigods, they do damage to them.  Otherwise it wouldn't really hurt demigods.  The bigger of a creep wave you push, the more that colides, the more damage. =]

He would be a general, because there needs to be a general Rook counterpart.  It'd be huge just like the rook, but you'd really see the scale because of the captain standing up top, jutting out his sword or flask of ale when casting spells.

The lore would be that he was born and lived the life of a pirate at first, only realizing he was the son of the All Father after he died and with his powers he brought back his ship in mecha-sort of form with his crew coming back as living skeletons.

Though i think something more original than chtulu.. because pirates of the caribean :p

He should be some guy with like seaplants over his body.

sounds good, the Rook would be a defensive tank if that makes sense :P, and Cappy would be an offensive support class tank thing :p, his real focus should be to take care of tower camping.

Hm I wouldn't say it's good at long range against towers.. because it's lots of small shells.

Cannon barages are more a close range thing to get the maximum destructive power.  That's how it used to work, going right side by side to another ship, and relying on your gunners reloading faster. :)

Being able to easily kill towers at long range is bad.  Like snipe is pretty lame against towers right now.  Fireball is good enough as it is, able to hit out of range, and regulus hitting slightly out of range.

i didnt say good againt towers, just good against people who camp them :P
