Stardock deception and dishonesty

Last Thursday was the fourth anniversary of the start of a thread about Stardock's Multiplicity client for OS X.

For four years, Mutiplicity users have been asking for the promised OS X client - supposedly still in development. For four years Stardock's BS artists have been deliberately misleading its customers with crap like the following:

Neil Banfield, June 22, 2005

The OS X version is still in development and should be in the 1.1 release.

Brad Wardell, June 29, 2005

Sometime this Summer.  Between the move, vacations, etc. our schedule is a bit in flux.

"Frogboy", September 22, 2005

We're beta testing it internally.  If you have ThinkDesk, the beta of it should show up there soon too.

Neil Banfield, April 5, 2006

We have now obtained an intel based mac as well for testing and I hope once KeepSafe 1.0 is released we can look at releasing a beta. Unless something happens in the next few days, I expect KS 1.0 to be released in April 2006.

Neil, Brad and Frogoy. Your contempt for your own customers is despicable. You are nothing but a bunch of pathetic liars. None of you have the guts to admit the truth and Stardock should be condemned for allowing this charade to go on as long as it has.

You're just not reading closely.

To a careful reader, apparently something happened, and it is not ready for release.  That does not make their prognostics "lies," it makes their prognostics, flexible.

Geez...you've obviously never been the parent of a child, because parents use these sorts of flexible terms all the time (to avoid embarassing tantrums in public places) -- it goes like this:

KID: But you promised! WAH!
PARENT:  No, I said I would try.  You should listen to me more carefully when I say things.

K10...he posted this diatribe twice...one for each screen? Ron Polak why not write Karmagirl a pm.

To post this once is regrettable. To post it twice? The depth of poor taste and since you're clearly not looking for Stardock Support on a Sunday night, you've had your 15 minutes.

Isn't that what kids throwing an embarassing tantrum in public do?  Screen as loud and as often as they can?

Since Stardock is in business to make money off the software your requesting, I see no need in them misleading the public. I feel certain that there is a legit reason the software has yet to be released. It could be that the demographic for said software is too small to warrant the expenditure for continued development.

In the words of Frogboy.. If you don't like it... on down the road with ya.

Ron Polak, thanks for your input, however the dates/times you quoted omit more contemporary responses to your queries, dating I believe to November, 2008.

Typically Stardock software is ready 'when it is ready', and on-going revisions to [in Multiplicity's case] Hardware, software AND any/all OSs involved can and do prolong release dates for viable functionality.

Nothing within the quoted comments or anything subsequent is either deceptive or misleading as no formal release date has been stated.

I think the last reference to any impending notification was along the lines of 'it'll be shouted from the rooftops'...so you will know when it is ready for public consumption.

If you wish to enter a dialogue with the coders/developers involved might I suggest contacting Stardock direct via [email protected] or, if you feel in some way commercially disadvantaged perhaps [email protected]

As for "Neil, Brad and Frogoy. Your contempt for your own customers is despicable. You are nothing but a bunch of pathetic liars."  I would politely suggest you refrain from such comment as it is counter-productive [and wrong].

[BTW... Frogboy and Brad are one and the same, and you're not all that far from [all at] Stardock ....I'm in Melbourne] ....;)

As mentioned above, the word should was used.  Unfortunately things change and thats why it has not arrived.

Major changes to the OS X platform caused problems, in particular changing to a totally different CPU.  While OS X has emulation to run PPC apps on Intel based macs, it isn't perfect and there is a bug that broke a key part of the functionality in the MP Client.  In particular it stopped the ability to login using MP.

Native executables were built a few months back, but it requires testing on an Intel based mac, and the last I heard the installer was not putting the right version of the files on the machines.

I am sorry about the delay and I am sure the above is no help to you, but at no point did anyone post a dishonest statement.

Jafo has been sent to Melbourne? 8C

That's what happens in Neighbours when people are written out of the script...

Jafo's in Melbourne? XD

I'm taking over when you retire!

Neil and Jafo, go to http://sourceforge.net/projects/synergykm and ask them for help. They got it going three years ago.

What are you trying to achieve exactly? Making more disparaging remarks is not going to help MP be released any time sooner...

To Ron Polak...re...nonsensical utterances.

You need to chill dude...seriously. Common sense seems to be in short supply on your end. No one can anticipate what may or may not occur during developement of an OS be it Windows or Mac. Look how long it took for both companies to finally achieve a reasonably stable OS. If you had been paying attention you'd have noticed the track record at Stardock. Windowblinds and SKS 5, Windowblinds and SKS 5.5, Windowblinds and SKS 6, Windowblinds and SKS 6.4 are prime examples and Windowblinds 7 in Beta. All during the time it took MS to develope less than half a stable OS (Vista comes to mind). And it's still only half stable.

That's not mentioning all the apps that come with Object Desktop. If an OS can't handle these programs for whatever reason does it make sense to rush into production a product that won't work?? Think about it the next time you run off at the mouth without knowing a damn thing about what you're saying......Have a nice day.

Now I'm getting worried. Uvah actually wrote a +6, correctly spelled, grammatically perfect (almost) and totally sane comment.

Karma to Uvah!  :w00t:

Sheesh, that's good t' know... that this breeze thing is just fleeting, cos I got some gas that'll disrupt the passage of that breeze if it becomes too regular.
