Can't seem to leave my MV empire...

You want to leave the Overmind? 

AFAIK, you can do it, but you have to join another empire to do it. 

If you want to be unaligned, make arraingements with the emperor of the new empire to release you as soon as you join. 

Try Neilo (Tyranny of Evil), KP (Kzinti Empire), or Emperor Seth (Geckodons).  I'm sure they'd help.

Ah yes, the Tyranny of Evil (or ToE) is also a good empire to join. But try to stay away from the Kzinti Empire, no offense to KP but the Kzinti Empire just has way too many characters which is just unfair to both the ToE and Geckodon Alliance. Try to join either the ToE or Geckodons or even have characters in both empires.

Nope, i just checked. I was able to expell one of my chars from the ToE and then plce him back in again.

Yeah mainly, though it's just a front. We have some "good" aligned players too.

In reality there are only 2 MV empires left, the Kzinti and the *not Kzinti* which is the ToE. So you really have a simple choice. If you want to jump on the bandwagon and get a gold 1st place empire medal with no effort on your part then join the Kzinti. There's certainly no shortage of folks that do that. Or if you prefer to actually contribute and hopefully eventually *earn* the 1st place empire position then join the ToE.

The choice is yours.

p.s. If an empire is open as ours is, can you expel yourself to free agent status or do you still have to join a managed empire and get the owner to release you?

No, you would have to get the emperor to "free" you or switch empires and have that emperor do it for you. Empire status makes no difference.

Every time I have left an empire, all I had to do was click the "Leave Empire" button and it was done. Did they change something recently?

Edit: It must depend on the empire. I just switched a character from the Twilight Pub to the Kzinti, and switched another from the Kzinti tp the Twilight Pub. I'll wait until the next MV refresh this afternoon, and see if I can switch them back.

Hmmm perhaps i'm wrong. I used the expel from empire feature.

Maybe the Overmind is set up differently. The TwP and Kzinti are both "open", but that one may be an "invite only" or something.

@GW: Your empire is not "open". I have tried to join twice, and have gotten a message to the effect my application to join had to be approved by someone.

That sounds like another probable colicky moment in the MV. Your venerable mate CL joined and left us since our esteemed founder went on hiatus and supposedly left the empire "open."

And it's an annoying glitch on account of us geezers needing all the help we can get and you malt-loving skirts-for-all folks are the most stylish thing to happen to the MV, well, since Mumble tricked me into paying attention at all.

In the list we supplied bars for needed MV tweaks, the senator functions are listed, so if that fix comes to fruition it may solve some problems stemming from an absent emperor.

You dont need an emperor to facilitate leaving an empire, you can either click "leave" or click "join" if you are joining a different one.
