Demigod: Friday’s new version

Demigod: v1.0.105 (EXE version) v1.0.055 on Impulse

(tip, if you put your mouse over the Demigod icon in the bottom left in Impulse it will tell you the revision).

 

It’s Friday not and we’ve got the Demigod update out.  So what’s new?

  • The disconnect threshold has been increased which should hopefully decrease in-game disconnects
  • Various timing changes in-game to make connecting to games more effective

What isn’t in this update:

- The disconnect issue when joining a skirmish game. Highly frustrating. It’s some sort of timing issue where it’s just thinking people are too slow. GPG is working on this and we hope to have another update early next week.

- This is not the update with the Proxy Server setup. That’s also for next week. So if you simply cannot even see other players, this update won’t fix that, that’s something we’re going to try to get into next week. But I have a feeling that a lot of people were having timing issues which hopefully, at least in custom games, this version helps.

- We initially had a new NAT fascilitator which addressed quite a few things but quickly discovered that it wouldn't scale well to the # of users trying to use it thus creating a deadlock so we had to pull it. We'll give it a go again on Monday. We apologize for the delay on that.

We’ll be around this weekend to see how things go.

It seems Impulse does not know there is an update. I load the game, it notes an update. I click update and Impulse notes I'm fine. It might be my computer or it the update is broken, has anyone else been able to update?

omfg.  yes.  i love you.  First time I checked, there was not update, a few seconds later it showed up. 25 mb or something.

Weeeelll,

When I try to play online, I'm told there's an update. When I go into impulse's My Games section no update is listed. ANyone else experiencing this? Is there a work-around?

Ha, I wasn't expecting an update till Monday or Tuesday, thanks a lot guys. Let's see if this helps. BTW, I'm from Europe and I can see other players sometimes but can't connect to them. Then I sometimes get kicked. So I guess this patch might help me although it has no proxy support in it yet?

what about achivements, are they going to be given to people that earned them and then they vanished.

Okay, we're having some unexpected slowness with the queue system. I think it's putting too much strain on the server it's on. We're going to put an update with a different CVP we have.

Thanks, Frogboy, for the update and hopefully this'll fix that annoying negative Favor issue that's plagued the game's system thus far.    Oh, ....please think about banning the S.O.B.s that sit there and spam "1st!" in the Journal updates.  It's really annoying.

 

Also, I'm currious as to just which Demigod that you developer's play/idolise the most?

I got into one game and my favor was reset to 0 (from permanently around -700 before) and my one puny favor item had been taken away :-(.  Is that intended?  I can't check whether I have more favor because now I can't get into any game at all (either the network connection fails or the game crashes...) -- if favor accumulates properly now that would be great! :-D

I just purchased Demigods today, in hopes that the first update alleviated the recent connection problems I've been reading about.

Amazingly I played 3-4 games without a problem. Although, as soon as this new patch comes along, I get:

"Cannot connect to NAT facilitator."

And this is for all  custom games (joinable or hosted) and skirmish games. Am I the only person having this problem?

I am unfortunately no getting those same errors about the NAT facilitator now that everyone else is getting.  Before this patch today I was able to get fantastic games to play against alot of humans smoothly (until they rage quit, but that's another issue).    Something seriously went "fubar" on this patch and it kind of sucks that it was on a Friday leaving the whole weekend without playing.   I'm a sad panda now.

Im connecting about twice as fast as before it seems...Open your ports in your firewalls it helps

6073 UDP and TCP and 6100-6200 TCP and UDP helped me a little.
