Which is The Best race?

Which is The Best race?

OK, i expect to pick up a LOT of flak for this, BUT i will freely admit that i prefer the TEC to the other races (I rarely play as Vasaari and i have never even finished a game as Advent)

I favour the TEC because i like the look and feel of their ships, i think their capital ships are the best and i really love the strong economy you can build up quite easily (especially with the Trade Facilities on the Argonev, 6.5 credits per second each, great!), the strong economy and the reduce ship build time reseach allows you to rapidly and cheaply replace losses, and the ships themselves are great.

also...there is just something...satisfying...about winning games as TEC. as if you'd saved the human race from annihilation.

BUT, what race is your favourite, and most importantly, WHY???

oh, i can use a balanced fleet 'tactically and strategiclly'. With a mid-late game vasari fleet I can do very evil things.

I normally use a balanced fleet. I almost never use advent, and i never use the spam except to show how OP it is.  You assume too much.

However, I can also use spam tactically and strategicly.

And ima not sure where your attitude problem came from... but I shall send the same invitation to you.

Pm me. send me a few times when you are open for a game. and we will see if i do indeed have skill or not.

^ dont play online because people like to spam. If you cant come at me with a thought driven tactic or strategy. Why would I want to play against you?

Spam isnt a real tactic or strategy.

The attitude comes from the arrogance of people who think spamming is the shit. Anyone willing to treat Spamming like its the kill all win all is really lacking when it comes to taking advantage of the abilities of the race itself.

Agreed 100%. They made the game with each race having a distinct advantage in mind (TEC economy & armor; Vasari mobility, Advent shields and firepower), and if you think that you can always win by sending in a swarm of units in the mid or late game, you will be crushed in the beggining

er... lets see if that works out 20 min into the game when 30+ lums along with a mothership and 2 halcyons along w/ lord knows how many seekers show up on your doorstep. And they aren't there to sing carols either.

I have played at least fifty online games, and won about 35 of them, I've had the game about three months. I have seen that happen in 45 of those games i've played. I usually survive, and then counterattack because they just lost their entire economy building that fleet. The other five games? They were pretty long, at least 6 hours, constant attacks, but there wasn't too much spamming until later in the game, because they realize that if they put all their resources forth to spam me, then they won't be able to stop ME when I defeat their fleeet with my defenses... and spam of my own.

I started with TEC and then switched to Advent. I never rly tried Vasari cause their voices sound like hell, and I don't wanna experience HELL when playing a game xD

I like the advent ships, the way they look. Their BEAM weapons are imba and if you combine illus, crusader and some caps into a fleet you'll BEAM everything away ^^

Although Advent is struggling in the beginning, they can get pretty strong at the end. And their starbase is cool with all those 10 billion fighters ^^

(sry If I repeat stuff already said, I just read the first 3 pages^^)

and advent get nice culture bonus <3

So yea I love the advent... for the unity :P

Advent is the best.   I *want* Vasari to be the best, but it just isn't.

So far Vasari, but the only other race I've played so far is TEC. Once I finish up the match I'm on now I'll give Advent a good chance. But Vasari has a moving starbase. IT MOVES. YOU CAN FULLY UPGRADE IT'S OFFENSIVE AND DEFENSIVE SYSTEMS AND IT MOVES.

Funny thing, my second match ever and I kept sending ravastra skirmishers and kanrak assailants into battle where they were getting hammered by enemy carrier caps and a LOAD of strikecraft and I sat there wondering "Why am I not winning?"

But I do have to disagree with you and say spamming is a tactic and strategy, it's just not a very advanced and in many cases effective.

Alright.  As far as i'm concerned, there is only one time when you can spam and call it a strategy, and that is if you were previously unaware that your opponent was closer than they were, as in, you thought you had more time and went Eco/Expansion instead of researching new ships, and suddenly your empire is getting eaten by the guy who spammed scouts to find out where you were, and sent everything he had after your paltry world-claiming fleet.  Other than that, do yourself a favor and think things out, and try to outsmart your opponent.

Only reason i call even this circumstance a strategy is because it is your only viable counter.

Okay...There is ONE more...but i'm not sure if i'm gonna get more into online play again anytime soon, and i'd like to use it a couple times first.  However, it is nothing like the things listed above, and may not even be concidered spam...

Exile has a point and I have to agree. But aside from that, there is no reason to spam. Outside of that, which technically its not a strategy its a clamer to survive. There is no thought in it. A strategy requires thought. Processing your abilities, chances and your enemies likely movements and reactions and possible counters as well as your reactions and counters. Spamming is just shoving out the most of one or two things and throwing them against something in an effort snuff out the enemy before your ability to spam become void. Its pathetic and the lazy mans attempt to win a complex game through overly simple buying.

True.  And thanks for your support.  Or was i supporting you???

Anyway, i was wondering if anyone has an updated chart, or knows where it is, that shows what is weak and strong against what.  I saw one on one of the posts i'm interacting with, but i think that may be dead now.  And the chart was inaccurate. thx.

The only DECENT chart of any kind I'm aware of is on the SoaSE Wiki (Google it), but it's HORRIBLY outdated, so idk.

Exile, basically it goes:

LRF > LF > Carriers (fighters) > LRF again.    Thats the basic triangle.

Its pretty obvious that LRFs (Long Range Frigates:  Javelis LRMs, Illums, Assailants) are good against LFs (Light Frigates: Cobalts, Disciples, Skirmishers), etc..  The following is a more complex expansion:

                                                                LRF
                                 Flak     > (fighters) > Scouts
Scouts > LRF > LF > Carriers          |
                               Support          v
                                              (bombers) > HC's
                                                                 Structures (& SBs)
                                                                 Cap Ships

LFs are good against Flak, Carriers and all of the higher tech Support (repair/disable) ships.  Carrier fighters are good against bombers, as well as LRF and Scouts.  Carrier bombers excel at HC (Heavy Cruisers), planet Structures and Capital ships.

Thanks, SageWon.  Doesn't quite look complete though.  Aren't LRF strong against the same things as bombers?  And what beats SB killers?  idk.  But this gives me a pretty good starting point for making a complete chart.  Anyway, it does fill in the gaps i have currently, and that helps out a lot.k1

Sorta, but they don't recieve a damage bonus, (against them) like bombers do.  LRF are fairly good against Cap ships because of their long range and relatively high base damage.

And what beats SB killers? idk.

Fighters, I believe.  And/or scouts! - to some degree.  I believe SB killers have light armor.

After your intitial question, I created a new post.  It got some good replies, with additional insights that I believe you will find of interest.

I could probably add: Scouts < LF (& Flak).  As Darvin mentions, LF, & Flak to a lesser degree, both do a pretty job of countering scouts.  But what doesn't counter scouts, besides LRF?  Bombers?? And...
I could probably add: HCs, SBs & Cap Ship > ALL.  Those three deal high damage to all types.

Why do the Illums kill Carriers... Why are they killing Flak/hoshiko combo.... Why are they raping Scout spam.

I have no idea but i would just like to say that I love the TEC and it kicks butt, even if its a little skimpy on the offensive side of things.:andrew:

Advent woohoo! \o/

I really wub Radiance since it can beat virtually any other capital ship in a 1on1 at fair odds (except a cap carrier with bombers kiting it I guess - but then again what can beat that?)

How exactly are they skimpy on the offensive side? Last I checked, the TEC do have the worst offense, but they still can spam.

I do believe the "spam" idea was debunked as a viable tactic early in the thread. And besides, whilst the TEC may be the weakest in open battle, they can replace losses faster and cheaper then the others, ensuring they can stil fight

Its the old adage, If your ships are a hundred times stronger then they are, and can kil a hundred enemy ships before dying, if your outnumbered 200 to one you still lose

You guys are off topic.... Vasari is the best.

Nah we aint off topic, we were discussing strategy as it is pertinent to which race is superior.

Which is, of course, TEC

And besides, i made this thread so it aint off topic
