I can't win a round to save my life! everyone else has items and I don't even know how you get those lol
Some people get lucky and start with one (though I didn't). You can also get them at level up (again, randomly determined). Keep at it and you'll get some good stuff, it's statitstically inevitable.
I have three characters(like the metaverse heh) My initial one, VileSanctum hasn't won a fight since the day he was created almost a week ago.He has the stone skin ability and still can't seem to win.
The second TentecleRape is doing better, she has the lightning hands thing, a sword and a club. 
My third guy is about as bad as my first
