Which version to choose?

Good grief, I just went ahead an purchased Object Desktop Ultimate,
and notice in Impulse, there are 3 different versions of Skin Studio available to download.

I want to use OD on my Vista AND on my XP system, and my questions are these:
Should I just download SkinStudio 6 Professional, as I assume thats the latest and therefore best version?
And do I need to download a seperate version for installation on my offline XP machine?
(I am downloading and archiving to transport the programs per flashdrive to my offline machine).

Yes, you should....especially if you plan to use it. Take a look at the version and date it was last updated by SD. I don't understand why you'd need a different version on another machine unless in had little memory (on the Hdd), Ram and slow processor....unless I'm being really dense (happens all too frequently) and really didn't understand the thoughts behind your question.

Congrats on renewing! :sun:

What I meant was, will the one downloaded version install on both Operating Systems (XP AND Vista)...

The requirements are the same for all versions,as far as I can tell.

System Requirements
Windows XP (32 bit)/Vista
Minimum screen resolution: 1024 width and 768 height
1GHz or faster processor recommended
120MB free drive space
512MB RAM

All versions of SkinStudio are compatible on any platform. Personally, I would either install SKS6 only, or SKS Pro & SKS6. SKS Pro will skin xp, whereas SKS6 will skin xp and Vista.

Some veteran skinners out there contend that a properly designed skin must be started in SKS Pro to design XP, then ported into SKS6 to finish off Vista.

That is because a few things don't work right in 6, hide start menu shadows as an example, so use Pro/5.5 and 6 or you need to know how to edit the XPStuff.xp file in note pad.
