I see reports of "bad connectivity".  But please understand, when we play the game with people online it works perfectly so we need to try to understand specifically what you're seeing.

 

So when you say "I can't get into a multiplayer custom game" for instance, what specifically do you mean?

Can you bring up the connectivity dialog? What does it say? 

That kind of thing.  The more you tell us, the quicker we can resolve it.

What I'm getting is, in large games (like 4v4) a good number of players will simultaneously disconnect. like 6 out of 8 players will disconnect at once. All I get a "a player has left the game dialoge.

I am able to connect to games using skirmish, and it appears from the connection information that the game is being established with other players (as from the connection information each player is able to connect to the other).  However once the game actually launches it appears as though I am playing with bots because everyone has a ping of 0, and (in case it might appear as though there was only a problem with the ping being shown) nobody responds to questions, comments, etc.

Froggy,

Ive had poor connection in the last 2 days. Usually not a problem, i even went and opened up the ports and disbaled router firewall and still no effect.

 

Basically ive been:

1. Getting booted on the loading screen

2. Getting dropped midgame

 

This ocurred occasionally before but over the last 48hrs has happened much more, to be an pain now.

I updated to the beta patch but am i right in assuming you can only play with others of the same version (since now there seems to be hardly anyone to play against).

 

Oh well - give the xbox a belting for a few days and try again

Thats you disconnecting from them.
Why would I be in the game still if my connection went bad?

I'm no computer genious, I'm a highschool freshman for crist sake. So pleasee, be mindfull if you have already answear this question prior, but in facy "Port switch to DSL.pdf" crap I keep reading. I have no clue what it means. I don't even know what a port is, let alone how to open a port.

 

So here is my problem. I'll log on, everything is fine and dandy. But when ever I try to join a custome game or skirmish it wont connect me to anyone. After 10 minutes of waiting, all the information from the connection log screen goes away, and it comes up with a "trying to load connection" message.

Okay, my Router/Modum is set up for customized NAT's so when I put in the info it looks like this.

I've somehow enrolled in the beta which is great however as far as I can tell, no other australians are in the beta so I can't really test it by myself - which isn't great.  I can't connect to any other games that aren't beta level connectivity games.

So I'm basically running a single player version of demigod until the next patch?:'(

Still have never been able to play a multiplayer game. Tried gameranger, and i kill everyone elses game on start up. Have tried every suggestion for no help. The game works fine off line such as it is. #MTX-886197. Today my ticket info has been handed off to the developers. Just found out they've been doing a connectivity beta recently. It seems that with my problem they might have tried to include me. This game is very depressing. Definately feel the moneys been wasted so far.

just to add my little help

on a bthomehub portforward didnt work it only opened first port ie 6100 n the rest could not be open, i tryed many diffrent settings n ways, the only way i could find to get around this was to make my PC DMZ and ipconfig /renew now i dont av any problems connecting to any games, i hope this can help some people if not the Devs!!

When I try to connect to custom games I tyically get the crash (dump attached at bottom). Though, I can connect to a LAN game no problem and can connect to my friends Internet custom game (we both have comcast as ISP, and live local to each other). I haven't been able to play Skirmish. Pantheon or any other custom game [other than my friend when he hosts, or via LAN]. Game is good and has lot's of potential, but I can't believe the lack or testing and Quality Assurance these days from ALL software groups.

Almost forgot, I am behind a PF firewall doing NAT and have ports 6073 and 6100-6200 UDP forwarded back to my internal IP.

By the way make sure you setup the ports correctly if you have multiple people all on the same router.  I had an issue this past week when my wife got the game and we tried having our friend join the game.  Whoever got in the game last would 100% of the time crash.  Once I setup the ports correctly on my computer and my wifes computer those crashes went away.  Make sure you mirror those ports you forward in the ImpulseReactorOptions.exe in the bin folder in demigod installed folder.

So.. every single game I've tried to get going multiplayer, either custom game I've created or joining another persons's custom game, I've gotten all the way to the "Loading" screen for the map, and it 'just hangs... nothing happens. I have to ctl-alt-del and kill demigod and start over. I can play single player no prob. A friend and I tried a 1v1 to see if we could get it to load that way and that worked* too.

I've got 6073, 6100 - 6100 TCP/UDP ports forwarded to my IP. W.T.F man? I just want to play online X(  

This never happened before the last patch. Is there something I can download or get a debug build or someting so that I can send stardock a log file of whatever is going on and why what's going on when it's just hanging trying to load?

* It worked the first time we tried it but then not again.

When I go online for a custom game, only 2 to 5 games are available. Interestingly enough my version of the game (DG MAIN 1.00.0108) is different from my friends (they have 1.00.0105). They can see many more games. I cannot see any games they set up, nor can they see mine. Whats going on?

I'm frequently finding that I can join a game just fine, low ping and everything, but when it starts, if there are 4+ other players in the game, I get a ping of 1000+, and the game becomes unplayable. I basically have to bail just so that SOMEONE can have fun with the match. It doesn't seem to be a problem with my upload rate, or with AVG or System Mechanic, my only two programs capable of packet-sniffing (I disabled them both and ended their processes, still persists). It's unlikely to be my ISP, as they're too incompetant to figure out how to block P2P services (one of their few redeeming qualities, sadly), and my torrenting works fine.

Sorry if that post sounds like an angry person ranting, I didn't mean it that way. Game's awesome, just hoping for a fix soon so I can enjoy it even more  :D   Cheers.:beer:

What exactly is your upstream bandwidth ?

Currently in BETA. System specs are: Intel E6850, 8800GT, 4 GB DR 2, DSL connection. Location is New Zealand.

I am currently getting a lot of NAT error/failures when trying to connect to games, specifically custom games. I'd say 2/3rd of them are dropping me because of a NAT failure. I've forward my ports and changed the impulsereactor port data too but no love. Please help as I really enjoy this game but it's hard to maintain a fan when the multiplayer is so so hard to play

This shows up after a lot of "Attempting to connect" in the connection info window. I've checked my ports and as far as I know they are open.

I have the same problem - aka unable to connect to any online game. I'm fairly sure I've done all I can to get my ports open.

However, when using the port checker utility (it's free - http://portforward.com/help/portcheck.htm) it appears that the ports are not effectively open.
