DAZ3d is a software 3d like Poser and are useful struments for make a single image for a background but a skin for Vista/Xp contains 300/400 images and a lot of work...from your words i understand that you've ever try to make a skin and i think that is not right decry an artist like vampothika that works hard for all her skins...and remember that these skin are FREE!
According to your profile,you haven't even purchased any Stardock software,let alone created anything for any of it. If you had WindowBlinds and SkinStudio you would see that there is far more to a Windowblinds skin than a collection of graphics.Regardless of how the graphics are generated,there is a lot of time, talent,imagination and creativity involved.
You state you are a newbie,that's ok,everyone is when they first start out.Coming to this site and in effect calling the artists lazy or uncreative is a poor way to start imho. It often takes months upon months to make a great WB. It takes even longer to make a great skinner.If you wish to learn the art you will no doubt have need for assistance from some of the people you are now insulting. Good luck.
If indeed no offence was intended you should edit your post to something a bit more friendly and take the time to introduce yourself to the community. New people are welcome here,but a more positive attitude and respect for others will go a long way.

DAZ3D,Paint.Net,Gimp,Photoshop,PSP and the like are tools of the trade. You'll see this if you learn to use them to create things to share with others. A carpenter uses lumber, a hammer,saw,level and such,he doesn't carve a house out of logs. That doesn't make him or her any less of a craftsman.

My problem is this,
I believe there is A world wide talent that is Flourishing right about now, and so there should be
in these times of misery ! so I put it to all SKINNERS (why should we be using Graphic programs like DAZ3D) as a base
for all work freehand (so to speak) eg Intoxica:-an irriputable COPY from a DAZ3D ,chuck in a background etc , etc ,
and all the rest of the bells & whistles OH PLEASE ! what were you thing KITTYMALONE we are all Idiots

'tis very cool....I've become used to being able to go back and edit posts...spelling....extra idea etc.....so...it's a good compromise rather than being locked out after the next post....or a time limit.....think it's great....

W\ regards to the original post, what you said is utter nonsense.. most artists avail themselves of every tool they can to improve their skill sets. I myself sometimes merge several combinations of graphical apps to obtain a specific look that may be impossible to produce just using ps.

Your slander casts a shadow over your existance...Singling out Vampothika ( a respected friend and artist of this community) was your first mistake. may I suggest taking your foot out of your mouth, putting it back on the ground, taking a step backwards and starting over...

For me Vampothica (the artist formerly known as kittymalone) is one of the most talented skinners I've ever known.
Negative comments are therefore rather redundant.
